Silk Dragon Jasmine [duplicate]

I recieved this in my Sipsby box (can’t remember what month). I really like this one. As others have mentioned in reviews, it’s a light jasmine tea. Very smooth in flavor. Does not need long steeping (true to green tea). I would buy again!

Day 4 DavidsTea 24 Days of Teas advent calendar – Organic Silk Dragon Jasmine. Yes, I put this one off for a loooong time before reviewing it. No particular reason, it just got caught up in my tea drinking backlog.

Honestly, there’s not a lot to say about it, which is a good thing in this case. It’s just a good, smooth jasmine green tea. Nothing massively special about it, leaning into workhorse territory, but it does have very little of that bitterness green tea sometimes gets, for those that are not a fan of that. (Personally I don’t mind that. YMMV.) Good quality leaves, nicely balanced jasmine — definitely present but not overpowering. Having had some overwrought jasmines in the past, I do appreciate it when the tea-ness of the tea is not drowned in jasmine oil. Given that DT offerings on balance tend to lean towards being over-flavoured, this was a nice little surprise.

Would be very good as an introductory green tea to people who’ve mostly had flavoured teas and want to start exploring the classics.

The Jasmine scent is really nice and adds to the drinking experience – reminded me what really good green tea is like! I think I used too much tea though for my cup. Brewed for 3 minutes but might also cut that back a bit next time as there is a very slight bitterness. Added a little honey and that balanced it out for me.

The last few times I’ve had plain green tea it was a Bigelow tea bag – not really much green tea taste at all. This also made me realize that the 5+ year old tin of jasmine tea is not worth drinking anymore! Time to do a cupboard clean out.

Tried as part of the Davids Tea 24 Days of Tea Advent calendar – Day 4

This is a delicate tea so I only steeped it for 30 seconds in the recommended water temperature for brewing green teas. I like it, but won’t go out and buy some more. Only tried it because it was in my 2017 Advent calendar.

I am not rating this tea. I do not like green teas, and this one was everything I especially dislike. A slightly bitter edge to a grassy sip. I know many people love green teas, so I don’t want to rate it. I believe I prepared it correctly, that bitter edge may have been due to over steeping. Anyway, this is not one I would ever even try again.

Love it, quite a strong tasting green tea. Too much for my boyfriend. Do not steep with boiling water, it burns and becomes bitter. Also, do not over steep!

This is the only Jasmine that David’s tea makes that is sub-par. I find the flavour to be bitter, chemical and unpleasant (though I was careful to brew it correctly, in a number of varied ways). It has a smell that is mildly reminiscent of rubbing alcohol, and drinking it gives me an unpleasant, mild-headache-like sensation. (And yes i am fully aware of the possibility of placebo effect, but I have experienced this mild-headachey-ness on many occasions, in varied circumstances.) Perhaps there is a particular quirk to the processing of this tea as opposed to the others, or it is interacting with an allergy of mine, as I have not spoken to anyone else who has felt this effect. While I personally do not recommend this tea, and rather recommend the dragon pearls, or the butterfly jasmine from David’s instead (which are far more light, natural-smelling, and deliciously floral), there are a number of people I know who don’t mind this tea. However, none of them rave about it. In summary, while I would not recommend this tea, I highly recommend David’s tea, as this is only one of two two teas I have ever tried there and disliked (out of over 100).

Jasmine flavour isn’t as strong as it could be, I’ve had better teas at dimsum.
It’s drinkable, nothing good or bad about it.
Be careful with steeping temperatures, this does burn.

I quite like it. It is a simple jasmine green tea. You should not steep it in boiling water, as it burns the leaves and makes it bitter. I like to blend it with Peppermint Amour, as it makes a good jasmine/Mint green tea.
