I think this tea is all a matter of taste. Many others don’t seem to enjoy it, but I can’t get enough! It’s my go-to morning tea as it refreshes, soothes, energizes, and detoxes me.

It makes me feel good, and I love sipping on the freshness of it. The ginger, peppermint, and sea lettuce really make it light and fresh, which I am thoroughly enjoying this summer.

I think one of the best things to tell people new to this tea is that it tastes nothing like what it smells. The smell can be very offputting, I think (and the little sample at the store when I first bought some smelt nothing like what the tea did in the bag), and the seaweed might make some heads turn, but the final product is worth it. I understand some not liking this because it doesn’t have the full package (a good scent and taste), but it had me really hoping it’d make it beyond a tea of the month.

I was hugely surprised by this one.
My expectation on this one was really low.

My GF bought it so i’ve just said:
Well, no problem! Try it.

That taste is impressive, nothing out of what i’ve think it would be.
It’s so refreshing, so minty and gingery. All in a pleasant way.
The taste is nothing else of what you could actually think about a tea.
Okay, the green tea doesn’t come through the blend, but it helps.
It helps what? It gave the blend a full body, another spectrum of flavors.

Not the best, but not so bad though.
Try it if you want something new!

The first time I tried this was just under a year ago and this was while I worked at the store for the holidays. My store manager forced me to try this because I was coming down with some sort of cold. I remember smelling it initially and it was so strange and not something I’d go for. I think it was steeped was quite strong (too many leaves to water ratio) and I ended up really disliking it. Also I think it was mostly the ginger taste that put me off more than the sea lettuce.

Fast forward to the end of August, I had developed a liking for ginger this summer (thanks to all the fresh green juices I’ve been having) and I was in the store as a customer. This time I looked at Splash and thought to give it a try again. I bought a 30 gram bag.

I steeped it today (Nov 15) and I used one perfect spoon worth of it in a cup
Turns out, I actually REALLY like it! It’s definitely an acquired taste so unless you dislike ginger and sea greens types then I don’t think you will like this.
I love having hot lemon water during the cooler months, so earlier after my second steep I added half of a lemon to the tea and I found it just perfect, a gingery lemon tea.

Ps: I had it on my desk while I was working and completely forgot I had 1/4 bit of it left so it’s completely cold. I tried it and it tastes and smells like ginger ale (without the sugar + bubbles) to me. Bonus!

Okay, so this wasn’t for me whatsoever. Honestly though, I didn’t think it would be for me. I love the ocean and things that remind me of the ocean, but I really am not a ginger fan and this one swung far too much towards the ginger for my liking. I got a bit of the sea lettuce, but it was really faint. Overall, this was a ginger/mint based tea. On a great note, the boyfriend loved it, so there is one tea I have no problem ‘sharing’ with him!

This smells and tastes like a spa. I love cardamom in perfume, and it turns out I love it in tea, too! Everything goes so well together in this blend. It’s very relaxing. I just wish I could taste the seaweed a little more!

The first time I tasted this tea, I didn’t like it (was something my boss brought in). After that, I told myself never to try it again.
My boss got tired of it and one afternoon a few months later, I gave it another try. The next day, I gave it another. …etc.
Fast forward to today; I have my own bag stashed in my drawer at work and have been addictively drinking a cup every afternoon since.
…almost time to restock!

To be more specific: this tea has a very acquired taste. Most people are turned off by the dry smell itself. For me, the tea is refreshing, thirst-quenching, and tea-craving-satisfying all at once. One perfect mid-afternoon work day green tea pick-me-up.

Dry, this tea smells a bit terrifying – it has a strange chemical, plastic smell to it. I bought a small sample when the salesperson assured me it steeped out better, and she was right. When steeped, the ginger, cardamom, and peppermint shine through some more. There’s a strange bitterness in the back of my mouth after a sip, though, which is weirdly medicinal to me.

Overall, better than I thought it would be, but not something I’ll drink again.

Day 55 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge.

It was good, but it was meh. The main taste I got from this was the ginger, and while it was pleasant, it didn’t really awe me in any way, shape, or form. Good, but not exciting.
