Get lucky

One sip of #7 and you’ll find yourself head over heels. Mysteriously changed. Magically happy. Walking on air. How does it work? Frankly, we don’t know. Our blender came up with it and then just ran off with the girl of his dreams. Maybe it’s the chocolate bits that lower your inhibitions. Or the seductive strawberries. Or the romantic rose petals. Either way, this black tea is seriously lucky.

I love chocolate and black tea in the morning. I really do. Definitely an addict. And I loved this the first few times I had it. But somehow, I don’t love it anymore. I can’t taste the berry taste or the chocolate taste like I use to. I’m thinking it might taste better during winter time though.

All of my friends are absolutely obsessed with this tea however I tasted it in store one day and I wasn’t swept off my feet. It wasn’t bad but I think it has to do with me not being a huge fan of chocolate in tea.

This tea is amazing. Sweet and chocolaty, the strawberry comes through in the end…I am so glad the guy convinced me to take some home.

First impression of this tea: it tastes like chocolate-covered strawberries. With each sip I detect another note – the bitterness from the black tea, a bit of astringency, the fruitiness of the strawberries. This makes for a nice dessert tea and I don’t need to add sugar to it.

I tried one of the chocolate bits left over after steeping my tea, and it totally tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry too!!!

I’ve got a sweet tooth so I rather enjoyed the chocolate/strawberry blend. It reminded me a lot of the strawberry Quality Street chocolates.

I went in to David’s to look for a tea to give as a gift for my mom this holiday season and after catching a whiff of this from nearby where it was being weighed for someone else, I immediately turned my attention and said “I want to try THAT one.”
And try it I most certainly did. It was love at first sip. Then buy it I did.
How do I explain this tea? My favorite thing about it is the aftertaste of each sip. My first sip was slightly too strong and the black tea taste was overpowering, but after the first two or three sips, the strawberry taste really came through. The chocolate isn’t as noticeable as I initially though, but I’ve always been kind of iffy about chocolate tea. This was perfect. The chocolate comes through after the taste of strawberry and kind of coats the tongue before you taste the roses. It’s quite rich.
As I drank this tea, I felt so enticed. This is definitely one I’d curl up with while watching Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version of course!) on a cold, winter night to spice things up. It’s a dreamy, decadent sort of tea. Definitely a winner. I’d love to try this with milk next time.

I steeped this, as directed, for 4 minutes. That was either way too much time or I put in too much leaf (1 heaped tsp), because the tea was overwhelmingly intense. Just too much flavor at the same time. I steeped again, for much less time, and got a cup that I could pay attention to. It was ok, I could detect the strawberry sweetness as well as the chocolate, but somehow the tastes didn’t mix well for me. I’m going to try this again with milk.
