From Camellia Sinensis

Matcha Uji is an excellent quality entry level matcha, perfect for daily use and for anyone wanting to discover this type of tea. Its emulsion is powerful and delicious. Its texture is velvety and bitter-sweet, marrying the vegetal notes of lush grass and snow peas to gently tickle the palate.

My roommate picked some of this up yesterday when we went to Camellia Sinensis. There were many matchas to pick from but the salesman recommended this as a casual matcha for everyday drinking. Though we drank the other teas she purchased yesterday, this one went into the fridge to have today as my roommate worried about the caffeine content.

Today when we were making breakfast, she put a cup of this in my hand. This is the first time I tried flavorless matcha and tbh I did not hate it. Looking into the cup, it had a vibrant dark green color and so I was definitely expecting the vegetal taste that I got. However, what I was not expecting was the creaminess that came along with it. All in all, this was not a bad cup of tea and I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

How fun to have someone to share teas with who are entering into it with such different tastes. What a nice way to have an expanded selection and a way to test your tolerances!

It definitely keeps things interesting and it’s nice because our apartment is both a plain tea lover’s paradise thanks to her stash and a flavored tea lover’s feast thanks to mine.

I tried Uji before I could stick it in the fridge, couldn’t help myself. Also, Camellia Sinensis offered me a generous 40g sample of their Sencha Haruno and I don’t think I can wait to review those shiny emerald leaves.

This matcha has such a vibrant, dark green color. It also has a thick cream, both characteristic of fairly good quality. This is one I’m gonna still put in my smoothies, and feel ridiculous each time.

On to the flavor, this is a matcha that is 50% sweet, 50% bitter. A nice balance and a remarquable sweet pea aroma and smell. If find it is extremely tasty, so you wouldn’t need to use a huge amount of product, either. It’s potent stuff.

An excellent daily drinking Matcha. This tea is processed well and has a sweet vegetal flavor like fresh snap peas, slightly bitter lettuce, and sweet with a mineral note that keeps it interesting. One of my favorite value for price paid matcha teas.
