From California Tea House

White Monkey Paw is a green tea made from the very young leaves and bud of new season growth. It originates from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. With the pride of an Italian chef creating extra long spaghetti noodles, the tea leaves are very carefully hand picked with an artistic process to preserve the tea leaf form and then delicately steamed and dried. These perfect, prized tea leaves in our California Tea House collection resemble a monkey’s paw, hence the name.

Similar to Silver Needle white tea, the ‘down’ on the leaves gives the leaves a silver appearance and indicates that these leaves were plucked very early in the morning and within the first two weeks of growth.

Such a delicious tea to drink! I have to admit that it isn’t as tangy as I usually like, but it is a great tea nonetheless. I usually really like to have a lemon or lime green tea, but I have been pleasently surprised by the melow fusion or grassy tastes in this wonderful little find!

I think I’ll be having one of these again!

Very smooth and drinkable, but doesn’t have much in the flavor department. Typical leafiness and a bit of butter on the tongue. Having some right now, notice that the astringency is fairly low, but has a nice bite at the end. Was surprised the reviews were so overwhelmingly for it, however, as I have had much nicer teas.

Yummy! I just recently heard of this company and this is the first tea of theirs I’ve tried. For someone who usually doesn’t go for green tea, this one is so smooth and easy on my stomach compared to others I’ve had. My new favorite green.

Jim

Did you order from them offline?? I placed an order with them but they never sent me a shipping conformation nor did they respond to my e-mail, so i’m a little worried. How long did it take for your tea to arrive?? Thanks — Jim

Another one of my favorite teas. I keep exploring other greens then coming back to White Monkey Paw (Bai Mao Hou). I like to see if there’s any greens that I could possibly like more, but White Monkey Paw has a smoothness that seems to be innate and just not duplicated by other green prep methods. I’ve had the White Monkey at Adagio which was excellent as well, but I’m not sure if it’s the original source or what, but the White Monkey Paw from California Tea House is by far my favorite.
