Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a sample of this to try!

This is a very good Earl Grey. The dry leaf has a very strong bergamot aroma which is something that I always look for in an Earl Grey – I LOVE that fragrance! The brewed tea is not nearly as fragrant (that is to be expected) but I can still smell a very lovely citrus-y note.

The flavor here tastes fresh and lively. The black tea base is unassuming and unifies with the bergamot to create a nearly seamless flavor. I almost want to say I am tasting just a hint of lemon to this blend, because it tastes more citrus-y than most Earl Grey teas that I have tried. That is not to say it doesn’t taste like bergamot because it definitely does, but it almost tastes like there is a little something more…

It’s very good.

This is my very first taste from Byron Bay Tea Company. The sample I received is HIGHLY scented…much like Orange GLO. It’s dark brown in color. The surprise is in the taste! I mean…everyone can do an Earl Grey, right!? Well, here’s what’s different with this EG…

Based on the aroma I thought it would have a stereotypical EG taste but it doesn’t! It’s VERY sweet and malty and you can still tell it’s an earl grey BUT without the faux bergamot. You can still taste the black tea and HELLO THERE IS A LEMON even!!!! WOW! Right at the end the Bergamot does a Superman/Clark Kent maneuver into a LEMONY goodness!

When they said “with a twist” – they were right!
Nicely done!
Cheers!
