From Bird & Blend Tea Co.

Brand new for Halloween… apple bobbing never tasted so good!

Wrap up warm and cosy, it’s time to go bobbing for this wickedly spiced tart apple tea! It’s a fruity hit of juicy freeze-dried apple pieces blended with tart the flavour of Sumac Berries, rosehip and hibiscus and delicately spiced with cinnamon and allspice berries!

Ingredients: Sumac berries, apple pieces, rosehip, hibiscus, freeze-dried apple, allspice berry, cinnamon, fermented lemon peel, natural flavouring.

I used to have an entire cube in my tea-cube-shelf-storage just for Bird & Blend Tea, and now, this is the last package from this vendor left, with maybe 1-2 more servings left. I had to stop ordering from Bird & Blend due to the high shipping fees and no more “free shipping threshold” and there are definitely many of their blends I miss. This one will be added to that list, because I loooooove it!

This is basically a hibiscus “mulled wine” type tea except it leans into a fruity flavor rather than a spicy one. The sumac berries give it this sort of piney overtone I love, and somehow the combination of the sweet apple with the tart sumac berries and hibiscus tastes more like cranberry to me than any tea I’ve ever had that has “cranberry” in the name. There is apple and cinnamon here, but neither is as strong as one might think from the name, and I wouldn’t really recommend it on those grounds alone. But it definitely has a nice “cold weather” vibe with the mix of mulled wine/pine/cranberry/apple notes.

Will really miss this one… I used to be fine with the cheap Stash “Apple Cinnamon Chamomile” teabags and since having this tea, now those are just not cutting it for me anymore.

oh no! I hope B&B has free shipping available again soon for you (and for all of us B&B addicts.) Luckily I still have a tea-cube-shelf amount of their teas left!

Martin Advent Day 2
I have my partner set out my advent tea for me the night before so I don’t catch any accidental peeks at future days. Last night he said that he really liked the sound of this one, and he’s picky with tea, so I was pondering that hint all night long! Somehow, this isn’t a B&B blend I’ve heard of, so I’m eager to try it! I usually drink fruity teas cold, but I decided to try this one warm first since apple cider is better warm. It’s pretty appley and tart with some mild spices. I iced the second half of my cup, and I think that improves it. The apple flavor tastes quite fresh and authentic, not fake or candylike. I feel like the spices came out a little bit muddled, and the blend could be improved if they picked just a spice or two and simplified it. Actually, maybe it’s the fermented lemon that I don’t love – a bit too sour for me. But I wouldn’t mind more of the fresh apple part of this tea!

Glad that you liked it (and I hope I will write this for every single tea!)

I agree that bit less of spices would make this tea better! But I liked it as well rather cold (haven’t tried iced) than warm. The lemon was bit interesting twist IMO though!

AJRimmer

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve bought any B&B apple teas before, but I think I’ll have to in my next order!

Shae

How fun that your partner is joining in the festivities with you!

AJRimmer

He’s not a tea fan, but he listens patiently to all my tea stories, which is really generous because I’m sure they’re not interesting :P

Tried again and alone :)

While last time I found it really enjoyable, today it is bit different story! I still quite enjoyed it, but maybe it was too spicy; maybe I have over"appled" it?

It was nice warming up cuppa, mostly apples and allspice. Pretty much mouthwatering, but quite tart aftertaste. I will keep current rating; it’s tasty, but not really perfect!
