B&B Advent 2022 Day 8

I am so delayed in noting my teas this Advent. I pulled this one a few days ago but didn’t feel like it was what I need that day. This morning, I decided to have a cup as we’re still fighting off colds.

I really enjoyed this one. I usually drink the Yogi Cold Season Tea or the Traditional Medicine Cold Care but I definitely think this tastes better. I like the balance of mint, lemongrass, and eucalyptus with a hint of spice from the chili. I don’t think 1 cup will knock these sniffles out of the house but I’d have a cup of this even if I wasn’t ill.

A late night cuppa from a few nights ago. I’m not feeling sick or anything, I was just kind of craving mint and eucalyptus. I’ll be honest, I did expect the eucalyptus to be a little bit stronger and more cooling – I think Cold 911 has forever ruined me by conditioning me to expect liquid Vick’s Vapor rub whenever I see eucalyptus in an ingredient list.

With that said, it was still a very good cup of tea. Rich, soothing and slightly cooling peppermint with eucalyptus undertones, supported by notes of citrus from the lemongrass and just a hint of chili heat in the finish. Great for a late night cuppa to wind down with. I just felt so relaxed by the time I had finished my mug.

Bird & Blend Advent Calendar 2021 – Day 15

So I saw eucalyptus and peppermint and was excited to try this one. It smells nice too, lemony and fresh!

But… Why did they feel the need to add chili? It’s just an odd choice to me. Everything else here is lovely and refreshing, and I love the citrus notes of the lemongrass. There’s such a nice, fresh herbal vibe going on. But then the chili comes in and stomps all over it.

Sad panda.

Might be good for cold season when you can’t taste anything…

Bird & Blend Advent Calendar 2021: Day 15!

I never find myself seeking out (or really enjoying!) these cold- and flu-fighting blends. The flavors just aren’t super appealing to my tastes!

So, with that caveat out of the way… this is fine, I guess. The dry bag smelled really odd to me, with a weird urine-y note (!) that almost put me off, but that scent dispersed pretty quickly, thank goodness. Peppermint and eucalyptus come out most strongly at the first sip, with a gentle warming from the chili toward the end (and especially as it cools; I also get a bit of aniseed then). I’m not really picking up much lemongrass, and I don’t know if I can actually recognize echinacea! Overall it feels a bit busy—there’s a lot going on and the flavors are a bit muddied. But it’s not aggressively bad, so that’s… something.

Mastress Alita’s Monthly Sipdown Challenge
April 2022 → A tea paired to the weather

Woke up feeling stuffy this morning so found this to fulfill my prompt and (hopefully) clear my sinuses. This tastes infinitely better than I expected. Really it’s just a peppermint tea with a bit of spice at the end of the sip. One of the better herbals that I’ve tried.

I was reaching for Cold 911 by David’s when I remembered I had two bags of this one. My nose has been sadly plugged all day. This morning I thought I must be coming down with something, but no sore throat or cough developed, so maybe not. I know I[‘ve had this one before and I thought it was good. Tonight I couldn’t taste anything at all. Might be old. It tasted maybe a teeny bit grassy. I was disappointed. Tomorrow night if I am still stuffy like this I will try the David’s Cold 911 and see how they compare.

How about a nice spicy chai to open things up?

Sipdown! I’ve had three small colds over the last two months, all of which I’ve zapped with this tea before they really got hold. I was a little skeptical about the effect a tea could have on a thing like a cold, but I really do believe that drinking this has made a difference. It’s good for soothing a sore throat, and I’m convinced it’s helped me to shake off the ills more easily. It tastes pretty good, too! Super brilliant stuff, and a definite repurchase!
