Green Tea by Bigelow
Delicate flavor with healthy antioxidants
www.bigelowtea.com

Leave it to Mother Nature…and Bigelow!
Mother Nature gave us a wonderful gift when she packed powerful antioxidants into green tea. But not all green tea tastes the same. To make all natural Green Tea, Bigelow uses only the finest quality tea that has been grown in higher-elevation gardens and gently processed to bring out the tea’s natural, smooth flavor. Each tea bag is then wrapped in its own protective pouch to seal in all the wonderful flavor and freshness.

All natural Bigelow Green Tea takes green tea enjoyment to a whole new level. It’s great way to help you relax and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

I admit that I am a green tea fanatic and prior to delving into the world of tea drinking as I have; were to be asked what tea color are there? My response would be green tea. Oh, yes I know of black tea but I would have said green tea just the same.

I have enjoyed drinking teas by Bigelow and I must say they have all been wonderful and at times surpassing loose leaf tea of the same make. So it is not surprising when I reach for tea it is green tea for making a simple, plain cup of tea. One tea bag placed in the cup and adding the water and microwave for a few minutes and leaving it in there a minute longer to steep. If desired, one can add a dash of lemon juice or slice of lemon in the cup.

I drink this tea with nothing added and it is fine as is. This tea is delicate in flavor with healthy dose of antioxidants.

… this green supermarket tea on the other hand, is terrible. I’m not sure if this box that I got (from work for free) was just super stale or old, but it was awful. Flat, watery, burnt-tasting. I really did not enjoy it at all and it truly had no redeeming factors. Could be that it was old and stale, but it was an unopened box and very disappointing.

Edit: the tea expires in July of 2023, so 8 months away from now.

By the end of the conference, it was this and a sleepytime Bigelow blend as the remaining options. I figured a sleep blend wouldn’t be great as I was trying to make it through a full day of lectures. So, ended up with this.

This is not good. This is abysmal. I cringed everyt ime I took a sip. I’m not really sure what I was tasting, but I know it wasn’t good.

I feel your pain. Bigelow does a decent black tea for when nothing else but Lipton is available but the bagged greens are just the worst..

derk

Bigelow green tastes of neglect, suffering and despair. I am so sorry.

@derk. I kinda laughed at your comment at first but I quickly sobered when I realized it is a hard reality for many for pluck the tea

The Green Tea Classic by Bigelow was another simple cup of tea that I enjoyed this morning. I only had a little bit but it had a very nice green tea flavor to it without any sugar.

This is a tea I had a few times before beginning our class and never really had an opinion on it. I remember it being earthy and deep, like most green teas but I thought it would be fun to try it again now that I have learned so much more about the quality of tea and what to look for. For off, it’s in a bag and really finely ground, so it is probably safe to assume that it is of lower quality. I brewed it in a clear, blue, art-deco mug and aromatically it wasn’t that bad. When I tasted it, it was more bitter than I remembered and almost imparted a burned flavor. I feel like the plant it came from was rather young as there didn’t seem to be any depth in it. I didn’t get any joy from drinking it and I know the process it went through was very mechanical. I remember Professor Zhu talking about the more you learn about tea, the more you get out of it. I definitely feel that this is true as I can taste so much more nuance now. This is a tea I would have been fine drinking before, but now I can’t bring myself to reach for it.

Had this at work today – usually I drink 3 cups of green tea a day and despite doing so I guess I needed a 4th :P.

I made it very crudely- boiled water, mixed that water with cold water till it felt not too hot, then steeped for about 30 sec. It got busy at work so I didn’t get to drink it till it was cool.

What can I say- cheap green tea. I think this bag had gone a bit stale. It got the job done but there is no really good impression and I have no desire to look into purchasing this tea.

does not look good to me either

Yeah, I find with green teas I’m becoming more and more picky. I can really tell when its high quality or not, and really prefer the good stuff. I don’t mind so much when herbals are cheaper and bagged, but green teas- I care a lot :P

A rather boring green tea. Quite weak, even for someone like me who prefers more mild flavours. This was the selection when I asked for a green tea when I was out for lunch today. Certainly non-offensive but doesn’t stand out from the rest of the pack at all. Nothing special and rather forgettable.
