I don’t like Adagio’s cherry flavoring, but I still grabbed a single serving of this one from the last TTB because I do love marzipan. Unfortunately, the cherry really dominated the flavor. I didn’t taste any marzipan, and the oolong base was pretty thin/nonexistent. Oh well!

Love oolongs and this one does not disappoint. Love all the flavors, in particular the tartness of the cherries in this tea

Adventaggedon Day Fourteen – 4/6

I was so excited to try this tea when I saw it this morning. I actually thought it might have been new for the advent because I had no recollection of ever seeing it on Adagio’s site, but I see Steepster reviews dating back a few years so that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I have a 50/50 track record with Adagio’s oolong teas – I seem to love or hate them. My favourite (non fandom) blend from Adagio is an oolong though, and in general I tend to really like the cherry flavouring they use. So lots of promise here! I think the name is spot on for the taste; it was sweet yet nutty with a bright cherry note that made me think a little bit of the nostalgic cherry slushies I used to get from the ice cream store when I would visit my grandma in the summer – with a pump of “shocker” (aka malic acid). That sounds like it shouldn’t work with the more mineral and roasty oolong base, but it was great. The whole thing kind of had Amaretto Sour vibes in such a fun and yummy way.

I’m not sure if it’s my favourite tea of the day, since there were a lot of really strong teas today. However, it’s definitely my favourite Adagio blend in the advent so far, and it will 100% be going on my ‘to order’ list for whenever I next end up placing an Adagio order.

I LOVED this tea… and considering I hate marzipan, I was shocked by my new unbound adoration for it

Backlogging – Adagio Advent Calendar Day 4

This advent calendar is not really for me so far. Bizarre non-christmas flavors and some of my most despised. Lots of Rooibios and such.

I don’t like Cherry teas, just like I didn’t like the prior day’s bananas teas. I will say that this one wasn’t a BAD Cherry – it is NOT Cough Syrup Cherry or overwhelming cherry. As a personal preference not something I enjoy much, but wasn’t awful and I could drink it. The oolong base was standard

Marzipan, like many things, can be really tasty or will make you not want to try it again. Until you forget your last experience. At first I was excited to try this one but then I remembered Marzipan is made with almonds, so I passed my tea to my husband. The aroma is quite nice. The almond flavoring is stronger than anticipated. The husband says it was good. More floral than your usual one.

Backlog from last night. . . .

This was another blend from the Adagio Advent Calendar. I have heard some pretty high reviews of this blend from others but this blend was not for me. I honestly didn’t get much flavor at all until the very last lingering note where I picked up some cherry. It sounds amazing and maybe my taste buds are off, but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Adagio Advent Calendar – Day 4

Oh boy, this isn’t going to be good… Cherry flavoring so often tastes like cough medicine to me, and I haven’t been feeling the almond/marzipan teas lately. It hardly seems like a good combination for me, but here are are.

Yeah, definitely not for me. It’s cloyingly sweet and the cherry tastes very medicinal. There’s a candylike edge to it as well, and a somewhat chalky note. The oolong base seems fine, with a mild dry leafy flavor.

But no thank you, no cherry candy medicine tea for me… :P

I remember really disliking the particular almond flavoring Adagio had used on their Almond Oolong. I wonder if they used that as a base and added the cherry to it…
