From 52teas

I blended the base of organic red and green rooibos with natural flavors, cacao shells, cacao nibs, freeze-dried blackberries and vegan, dark chocolate mini chips. The prominent flavor is chocolate (mmm!) and right about mid-sip, I pick up on the blackberry notes. I really like how the blackberry and chocolate play together on the palate. The flavor is light and refreshing, but there is also a certain comforting, coziness to this tea – the kind of tea you want to snuggle up to!

To Brew: I used my Kati Tumbler and measured a heaping scoop of tea into the basket and added 12 ounces of near boiling water (195°F) and let it steep for 10 minutes. You can let this steep even longer if you want – because it’s rooibos, you can’t “oversteep” it – the tannins are very low and steeping for long periods of time will not produce a bitter brew. But do keep the temperature lower than boiling to avoid the strong, woodsy flavor of red rooibos. After you’ve strained the leaves from the tea, let the tea cool for about 5 minutes. Sips when the tea is still quite hot are more berry-ish and sipping when the tea has had some time to cool is more chocolate-y.

This tea will definitely give you Chocolate Kisses & Blackberry Dreams!

Another old one that I just dug up! And one with very few tasting notes. It’s not bad; could use some more blackberry (could be age) but the chocolate is nice (cacao shells). That said, I’m not sure that chocolate/blackberry is my favourite combination, and particularly not with rooibos. I think I prefer blackberry with green or black bases, and cream instead of chocolate.

This is one of my favourite blends from 52Teas. I love the freeze-dried blackberries because they taste very fresh and authentic. The vegan dark chocolate chips are lovely and along side the cocoa nibs the rich cocoa flavour is very strong and creamy. The rooibos adds a nice sweet base. I’m a really big rooibos fan, so maybe I’m biased, but I think it was a very good choice because it gives a sweetness that tea leaves seldom do.

Also consider trying this was soy or cow’s milk because it makes a good latte if you steep it strong.
