So, maybe I’m weird, but I like to eat the green apple and watermelon Jolly Ranchers together. I love the mixture of sweet and tart. So it seemed like a good idea to make a tea with buttery chinese sencha, some sweet young hyson, freeze-dried granny smith apple bits and some organic green apple and watermelon flavor. The green apple was pretty potent, so in the final blend, I added a bit of organic cantaloupe flavor to give it a bit more sweetness and melon-ness. Is that a word? It is now. (I wrote it on the Internet, so it has to be a word, right?)
I hope you enjoy this tea as much as I do. I’m looking forward to reading your reviews and tasting notes. =)

This is pretty darn good. It is absolutely true to the description that it tastes like the green apple and watermelon Jolly Ranchers. The base tea is a good match for the flavorings and the flavor level is perfect for me. The only reason why I don’t give this one a higher rating is because it’s no a flavor that I would crave often. This would be so nice iced in the summer, so maybe I will wind up ordering some!

I’m not a big fan of green apple, but the good news is, from what I can taste around the plastic notes, the green apple and watermelon seem to play together nicely in this without the green apple taking over. I’ll hold of rating this for now until I try making it again and see if the plasticiness is still there.
Another one from the 52Teas grab bags! I didn’t think I’d like this one with the watermelon… I think watermelon is my least favorite fruit but I LOVE fruit. There was a big chunk of fruit, I think apple, that went into my infuser. If it were the black tea base, I’d pass, but this sencha would be delicious on its own! Then once in a while there are wisping flavors of fresh green apple and watermelon. Not enough to drown out the green tea which I really like.

As promised in the description, this does taste (and smell) a bit more like candy than it does something that would be considered true to the fruit. Not necessarily a bad thing, because I like watermelon and green apple jolly ranchers.
The green tea stands out, though, which I didn’t really anticipate because a lot of times the flavored teas are more about the flavor than the tea. Here, this is definitely TEA with flavor and not the other way around. Sweet and vegetative, notes of grass, and hints of butter.
The apple and watermelon notes weave their way through the sip. I taste more watermelon than apple during the sip, and in the aftertaste, it’s all about the apple.
It’s a good tea. Not my fave from 52Teas but they can’t all be my faves. I’ll enjoy it as long as I’ve got it in my tea stash though.
I found this to be more watermelon than green apple, with both flavors being a bit candy-like and artificial (but still good). The sweetness of the watermelon is in the front, and lifts a bit at the end into a tart Jolly Rancher-like apple. The base is green tasting and slightly vegetal, and pairs well with both flavors.
When chilled, it seems the flavors reverse potency and suddenly the tart green apple is in the front and sweetens into watermelon at the end. I’m finding the apple less artificial in the iced cup as well.
Either way, I think this is a pretty fair cup. It isn’t something I see myself reaching for frequently, but I can see the appeal.
