From 52teas

With Labor Day fast approaching, the end of summer is right around the corner. We’ve decided we need one last taste of summer in our tea of the week this week. It’s our Watermelon Raspberry Green Tea with real freeze-dried raspberry pieces and natural watermelon and raspberry flavors. This is a delicious treat, particularly iced. Looking forward to reading your reviews of this.

This tea has so much watermelon scent. It comes through very strong in the leaf and in the steep. I don’t smell much raspberry, but I can taste it a bit in the tea. The watermelon flavor in this is such a real juicy sweet watermelon taste, it doesn’t taste like a tart watermelon candy, but just a sweet juicy flavor. I wish the raspberry was there a bit more, but it might distract from the buttery smooth taste of the tea.

Cofftea

This tasting note makes me VERY happy since I didn’t get hardly any watermelon from the watermelon black.

Lori

This note makes me want to order this tea as I sooo much prefer watermelon to raspberry…

Cofftea

I gotta get the watermelon blackberry. Blackberry beats raspberry in my book hands down.

Meghann M

There’s a watermelon blackberry? In stock?

Cofftea

Oh opps. I’m an idiot. It’s an ROT black blend. Sorry, I’ve had a headache all day and am not thinking.

amandajo

mmm…This review makes me want this tea :P

amandajo

lol…I didn’t even see what Lori said until after I wrote my comment!

Look what just arrived in the mail!

OK… so when Frank introduced the Blueberry Danish – I was tempted BUT I thought, I can wait. This one looks good, but, I need to exercise some self-control. It will be here in a couple of weeks or so when you’re ready to buy.

Same thing with the Earl Grey Cheesecake, although I must admit that it was even harder to exercise my self-control here… I mean, it was EARL GREY and CHEESECAKE. I love Earl Grey. I love Cheesecake. I wanted and I wanted it right away but, I was patient and I decided to wait another week or two.

But this week, I could not contain it. I HAD to order this tea. Of course, I ordered the other two I just mentioned at the same time… and I look forward to trying those very soon. But this is the first one I had to try.

I love Watermelon. The problem is that with Watermelon teas… so few companies blend it right and the watermelon ends up tasting just … I don’t know … off. But, if I have faith in any tea artist (other than myself) it is Frank. He is the best. (notice I am trying to butter him up so that he’ll make my tomato, basil and black pepper green tea blend soon )

And I am not disappointed! The watermelon flavor tastes perfect here… the flavors are a little light, but this is a green tea, so I expect that. If the flavors were any stronger, they would overwhelm the sencha base, and I really like the green tea that Frank uses. It is sweet and buttery and is the perfect base for these fruit flavors (and would also be a delightful base for a tomato, basil, and black pepper blend).

The raspberry flavor is sweet and slightly tart and really brings out some of the more delicate flavors of the watermelon, rather than overwhelming them.

Yum Yum Yum!

This one is kind of crazy. I taste so many things. I can taste the buttery flavor of the sencha, I can even taste the essence of watermelon but not sure if I can taste the raspberry. I am glad this isn’t tart at all since sometimes that happens with raspberry. It is sweet and buttery and sometimes a watermelon tea and other times tastes like a Watermelon Jolly Ranger which is AWESOME!

I’m gonna keep staring at this tasting note to keep me from caving on this week’s TOTW. lol

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

It does look but I bet you will cave since you live chai so much. I bet it’s good too.

Cofftea

Actually I’m not going to cave cuz we’ll have left overs from the favors. I REALLY want to though.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Oh so you went with 52Teas for favors and it is this weeks tea of the week? If so cool!

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Feel free to send some extra tea my way from the wedding if you have some. :-)

Cofftea

Yeah, Frank really came thru for us! Sorry hon but that won’t happen. We’ll portion the tea up and have the extra drank before I come home- you’ll just have to cave. :)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Oh well, just thought I would ask.

Cofftea

You’ll get some tea soon- I gotta dive back into that box again, I’ve been too busy to try new teas.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I know what you mean… Me too :-)

Cofftea

It’s funny, I’m so busy planning a wedding and I’m not even the bride or MOH!:)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Too funny but I bet it is tins of fun.

Received this one from my order with Rachel at iHeartTeas from her partnership with 52Teas to bring back some retired teas and I am SO glad they did this! This smells so yummy as it steeps with the watermelon flavors being the strongest of the bunch. Actually had some co-workers eying the pouch I brought in and I nicely directed them to Rachel’s shop! My tea, not theirs!

There is a nice light flavor to this tea and it is the perfect start to my day. Actually I think this is my go to tea for today seeing as it is my Friday. Why not treat myself?

Aww, thanks so much for the redirect, I am so happy you enjoyed it. Let them know I only have 5 of the Watermelon Raspberry, 3 of the Champagne Mojito, and now I have Kitchen Sink too (Quantity: 9) FREE Shipping on that one plus reduced price of $5.99. Try it iced too it is out of this world, I am going to need some today A/C not working and not sure when the repair guy will he able to fix it. :-(

IllBeMother221B

The hubs might harm me if I buy anymore just yet! But I am keeping an eye on what you have!

KeenTeaThyme

If Wifey_Woman & I both go missing, it’s due to our tea-buying habits! Mine has warned that he’ll send my photo and info to every tea site saying, “Do not sell to this woman!” ;)

IllBeMother221B

I think mine is on the verge of doing the same! ;)

IllBeMother221B

Actually rushed home at lunch b/c an Adagio order was left by UPS and had to put it away before my husband came home! He is ok with my tea drinking…but he just might freak out if one more canister or pouch appears. :)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

LOL :-) mine used to he that way but decided he was much happier turning the other check.

IllBeMother221B

Well, he needs to teach our husbands to do the same. :)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

LOL :-) I’ll be sure to pass along the request.

I’m really going to miss this tea when it is all gone, but happily, I’m not out of it yet. It is so delicious. The fruit flavours are light and natural and balance well with the green tea. I found that a lower steeping temp and longer steep time gave the best results for this tea.

Second review. Finishing up my sample. And this is definitely going on my shopping list.

I used the last of it to make a tall glass of iced tea. After a teaspoon or two of sugar, this is delightful. Very refreshing. I can tell that this would make a good summer staple. I dunno if I’d make it in large batches like regular sweet tea, since it’s kinda special, but I will definitely revisit it. Another winner from 52teas.

I bought this one from iheartteas through the out of retirement effort with 52teas.

It smells tart. I can definitely smell raspberry, but the watermelon isn’t yet present.

170/3 min. The sencha tastes divine. It has a richness that blends so well. It’s thick and slightly buttery. The tea is very tart from the raspberry. Very tart. It makes me pucker. I cannot taste watermelon. I’m going to try again at a shorter steep time.

The watermelon is light but it is there. Maybe try 170 at 2:30 just a thought and if that doesn’t work the iced is great. Just a thought :-)

Tabby

Love this tea dearly. <3

QuiltGuppy

How long do you steep it? I was thinking of dropping to one minute to see if it reduces the raspberry tartness.

Tabby

I never noticed any tartness, and I think I steeped for the same time…

Oh yumma-yumma-yumma! Delish, but going away into the tea cupboard until we have 70 degree days. Feels a bit odd drinking this with huge snowdrifts outside!

I’m not tasting any raspberry in this at all. Just a great combo of watermelon and green tea. (Who would have thought that would be so good)

Thanks Meghann for this one.

Another delish blend by Frank!

Meghann M

This is my favorite of Frank’s green tea blends. No raspberry apparent for me either. It makes one killer iced tea. I’d bet it would be good as a MarTeani too!

Thank you JoeCool (Nichole) for relinquishing some of this tea for me to try. :)

I haven’t had much luck lately with 52teas and rooibos. Don’t get me wrong, I love the teas Frank creates but red rooibos gives me headaches/migraines. Green seems to be my friend, though, and that trend continues with this delightful tea.

Watermelon is such a light flavor usually but not with this creation! This is much more watermelon than raspberry, although I can smell the raspberry flavor. To me, this is summer in a cup. I think about my Oma’s raspberry patch and her raspberry crisp, plus the watermelon slices she always has in the fridge… this tea makes me smile. DELISH!

Oh, and no headaches either! YAY!

Tabby

I’m getting a sample of this soon, too! I’m excited to try it.
