From 52teas

If you liked our Graveyard Mist from a few weeks back, I think you are going to love this one. We’ve combined Rooibos and Tulsi Rama with cacao nibs and fresh cut peppermint for an unearthly, caffeine-free Halloween treat. The rooibos, tulsi rama and chocolate smooth out the peppermint and make it more rounded, less sharp, more soothing and less jolting. the mint is most prominent, but it’s a subdued mint tamed by this blend of tisanes and chocolate.

Yeah that’s right..i’m calling this a sipdown and moving myself to 200 teas, though i know it will be short lived. Why? Because this is going to live at Indigobloom’s house. Not because i don’t like it, i’m just indifferent…and she has contemplated buying another pouch of this to have more. So she gets to finish the last few cups of this instead of me…because i’m trying this again tonight and i don’t wanna have to drink the rest lol.

Dexter

I’m the first to review?! Cool! Although I can’t believe it took me so long to try this one.

It has red rooibos in it and I normally avoid. But I already have a bad headache, and so why not? ;) HOWEVER I’m not rating it as I have no real basis for rooibos.

This is decent. It’s woodsy like red rooibos can be for me, but the dark chocolate, peppermint and Stevia help balance it. I didn’t steep for very long either and I bet that helped.

I’m not sure how often I would drink this. I didn’t read the ingredients very well and didn’t realize it had the red rooibos until after I received it. So if anyone wants to try it out, PM me. :)

Thank you Sil for the sample!! :)

Why did I have to pick two teas with cacao nibs in it? Hmmm. Subconcious craving?
Bah. So I am liking this much more when the cup is cooler. Hot, it’s too minty, like toothpaste. Lukewarm, I get alot more complexity. The tulsi is a little earthy, and the chocolate, in my opinion, is more “white” than it is dark!
Overall, it’s an interesting cup. The aftertaste is fascinating as I am getting a hint of that foggy note that came with Graveyard Mist. Only in GM, the fog was at the beginning!
I imagine it’d be super refreshing made iced.

Sil

Ill have to try it cold brewed. See if that improves it for me :)

Indigobloom

I recommend it!! not a huge iced tea girl myself but it really does the trick on occasion

Sipdown! Also finished the last of this today. I brought it home from work with me, and it went down all the easier for the addition of milk. I don’t know why I waited so long to try that, but there you go. I finally found the chocolate, and the milk dulls the tulsi a little. The mint works perfectly with both, and its a little smoky to boot. Lovely, atmospheric stuff.

I’ve got two days off work, and my Yankee Candle delivery arrived this morning, so I’ve been burning my new Black Cherry candle with my new shade, and my thoughts are turning towards winter. Now that I’ve finished these couple of halloween teas, I can get started on some of the ones I bought for autumn and winter. I need to organise my stash a little so I can see what I’ve got, but I’m looking forward to trying some new teas over the weekend. That, and my candles, and my books. Yay for long weekends!

I could just eat that black cherry candle! Cherries On Snow is great, too.

Scheherazade

It’s not burning very evenly, but I love the scent. Other have said theirs tunnels a bit, but I guess I can sort it out as I go along. I’ve not tried Cherries on Snow…one for the wish list, maybe!

I’m liking this a lot!

It has a very soothing kind of taste to it… the peppermint, which is usually a very perky kind of herb, tastes a bit softer here, thanks to the rooibos and chocolate. The tulsi seems to accent and highlight the peppermint, but, at the same time, it slightly diminishes the sort of spicy notes of the peppermint, softening it somewhat, giving it more of an herbal-y/earthy kind of taste. This benefits the rooibos too, because it has less of that weird woody kind of taste to it, instead, it’s subtly nutty with more of an earthy character.

If I could change anything, I guess I’d want more chocolate in this. But really, when have I ever not wanted more chocolate? More chocolate is always better.

It’s a very soothing, comforting kind of tisane, but with a delicious crispness to it. It’s yummy!

I thought I already logged this one? Multiple times. Huh? Strange

I’m finishing off my pouch of this one. I’d never heard of tulsi rama prior to this tisane, so of course I had to Google it. Holy Basil eh? I wonder how different it tastes from the basil I’m growing on my windowsill? I think I’ll have to try more tea with it – I suspect I like it. I find the woodiness of the rooibos pops over the other flavors a smidgen more than I’d like, but I’m not typically a rooibos lover so that may just be me? Even with the rooibos I still think this is good. I’d reororder a pouch of it if it becomes available again. I can never have enough caffeine-free options.

Random: I had to resist the urge to buy more tea with the recent 52teas Canada Day free shipping, and the Independence Day sale. I just had a huge box of tea arrive yesterday that my hubby will be giving me for my birthday, and I still have another order from 52teas on the way. I’m such a dummy sometimes, I originally misread the Canada Day free shipping special and I thought it was a Canada Day tea. The description mentioned maple syrup and because I was half asleep I read it to be a maple syrup tea. You would think the mention of mounted police would have tipped me off? Hmmm….what would that taste like?…maple syrup with a faint smell of horses –lol! What can I say, I’m a wreck before my first cup of tea!

Fjellrev

Ha! I resisted that urge too. Nothing really interested me other than the SBT iced teas, and wasn’t sure if I was willing to spend over $20 or whatever it was just on those.

If they had a new honeybush I would have caved

Thank you Scheherazade for this sample.

This blend smells sweet and minty with subtle cocoa and herbal notes.

It tastes minty, sweet, smoky, chocolatey and rich. A delicious balance of chocolate and mint which is highlighted by a thick but sweet smoky element which lingers in the after taste. The overall strength is medium and as far as blends go this is very refreshing and tasty.

Such a treat to share a pot of this tea with my husband on my favourite holiday.

Didn’t think I’d like this one, but since Sil had it, I had to try it anyhow! (So thanks for sharing!)

I was worried that it would taste much like Graveyard Mist, which did not work for me at all, but somehow, the chocolate and lack of spearmint made it drinkable, even if it wasn’t my most favourite beverage in the world (ok, far from). Either way, a decent tea for those who like rooibos/mint/chocolate!

This is excellent for a strong mint tea. As far as cocoa – not so sure about that. I was not really getting much from the nibs but as a relaxing mint tea it is really good.
Oh noes … wonder if I am allergic to Tulsi. I have sneezed about 20 times so far … no wait …21 …crap this isn’t stopping – time to take some allegra!

Crowkettle

Oh no, I hope the allegra helps!

Azzrian

Thanks I actually decided to try some hot salsa and that scared away the sneezes so didn’t have to take the allegra but my nose is still runny lol

Crowkettle

lol! Hot salsa is such a good instant sinus cleaner. A personal favourite around my household. :)

Backlogging from 11/24

I’ve been having problems liking rooibos if it’s not fruity, but I figured this might work just fine because I do love chocolate and peppermint.

But they are not enough right now to cover how red rooibos will stand out and just taste horribly woodsy and sickening to me right now. So I didn’t drink much of this at all. I’m going to hold on to it though in hopes one day I get my taste for chocolate rooibos back.

Sil

oh noes! I have a pouch of this…hope it’s not disappointing.

momo

it’ll be fine if you like rooibos. out of nowhere I just can’t do the red stuff when it’s not with fruity flavors.

tea-sipper

Have you tried Zen Tea’s Chocolate Mint Rooibos? I was going to send you some in the teabox, but I wasn’t sure if that was one of the samples you requested. It is REALLY good.
