This is another blend that I will not be able to recreate, so get it while it lasts! I had some single estate teas that I wasn’t sure what else to do with, so I blended them all together and then decided to add a little Bai Mu Dan to the mix as well. When I was satisfied with the blend, I thought for a while and decided it needed apricot, so I added real dried apricots and natural apricot flavors.
The result is a blend of Bai Mu Dan (white tea), Ti Kwan Yin (Chinese oolong), Formosan (Taiwanese) oolongs, Formosan (Taiwanese) Long Jing (Lung Ching/Dragonwell) Green Needles (green tea), real dried apricots and natural apricot flavors. Beyond that, the result is simply heaven in a cup. The green, white and oolong teas marry well together and the apricot is a succulent and delicious accent to this amazing fusion of teas. Anyway, this is now decupboarded. I’m not sure why, but my current obsession with all things citrus (nearly) seems to stretch to this with apricot as well. Maybe it’s because apricots are orange, so my brain fools me into thinking it’ll be the same sort of thing?
It is, of course, nothing remotely like my current craving for citrus, but it does have the right sort of fruityness. Full, but not overwhelming.
It was quite nice to have it in my cupboard, but I feel like we never really had time to find each other.
I’ve already had a crazy morning. Got a phone call at 6:20 (still in bed, no school = no work = no wakey wakey Jaime) from one of my managers that a vendor was at her school to deliver product (which shouldn’t have happened, but…), so have already had to do some strategic phone calling to get mess fixed. Then I went to open the tea of the day (it’s not this one, don’t worry), and when I was cutting it, I somehow managed to make a hole at the bottom and it started coming out. A goodly portion is now on the floor in the kitchen…and regardless of the fact that it’ll be put in boiling water later, I know exactly how clean that floor isn’t. Perhaps driving into office later is a bad idea.
So, anyway, this sample is from MeghannM. I’ve got enough for another pot, which is great because I definitely want to try different steeping parameters on it! It’s very nice…I can taste the oolong, and the Bai Mu Dan, and there’s a buttery note that screams green tea to me, though I don’t know which green it’s coming from. And all this is gently folded in with the apricot flavoring. Apricot, my friends, was a fruit that was intended to be in tea blends. This is one shining example, and Apricot Kernel from SanctuaryT is another (but in rooibos form). I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to try this…and as the cup cools, even more of the apricot is coming out. I’ll definitely be doing another infusion of these leaves!
Were you able to salvage any of the tea of the day?
Yes, I had a baggie close by (I was getting teas ready to send out, luckily) and managed to get the whole package in. I probably lost 1-2 cups of tea, but I’ve enough for at least a cup later. I’m afraid to mess with it right now…my karma has not gotten any better, as my heat decided that it was a good time to question whether or not it was feeling like working (we’re all good on that front now, though).
Bummer about the sample! I do think the packaging is less than ideal – I find it a bit putzy. Even when I open the top carefully with a scissors, I’m finding it somewhat difficult to scoop out a mug’s worth.

The flavor is sweet. A hint of vegetation but not strong. A silky mouthfeel. The apricot is sweet and fruity but, it is also a delicate flavor which allows me to enjoy the other tea flavors that are going on. I like it… it is one that I want to play around with to find just the right steep time and temp, but, from what I’m tasting here, it will be worth the time and effort to get it just right.
’This tea does have a really unique mouthfeel. I like "silky better than what I came up with—soft and mossy. But when I drank it I kept thinking of playing in the cascades at Fall Creeek Falls in Tennessee, the way the rocks made slippery little waterslides. When my husband and I were still dating we went to Fall Creek Falls as our 1st little road trip/vacation. It is quite nice!
Mmmmm….smells like apricot gummy rings, the fruity, sweet orange and yellow O’s Trolli makes. Love how fragrant this tea is. Brewed up a small 5oz cup so I could enjoy multiple infusions. Love the light sweet apricot flavor in this blend. I have enjoyed six steepings of this tea (added 1tsp more of leaves after the first 3 infusions). I could see this being a regular tea. I could drink this all day and not sicken of it.
This is tea 2 of 4 from my most recent 52teas order. Normally, an apricot tea wouldn’t interest me much, BUT the combination of this tea being a once in a lifetime offering and that it is from the master of blending at 52teas…I had to pick some up. There have been just a few white teas that I’ve really enjoyed with the most recent being Silver Needles, but I do love oolongs and greens. The ingredient list is very unusual and I was a bit worried about how long to steep this tea. Luckily some of the other reviewers included this brewing times to help me decide on a starting point.
The scent of this tea reminds me of peach more than apricot but that may be because I haven’t had anything with apricot in quite awhile. Initially I just taste the fruity aspect but that is followed by a softness that I associate with the Silver Needles I had once. There is something interesting to this blend that I can’t quite describe but I think I like it. The rating is subject to change after I’ve had a few more experiences with this one.
Drank this tea with the housemates tonight. I’ve been drinking it a lot recently (along with black currant white tea). This tea is definitely a house favorite though. Every time I ask them what tea i should make they always request “the apricot one!”. It’s just so perfect after having a huge house dinner and it light, soothing, and the apricot flavor is sweet but not overpowering the taste of the tea.
I love the fruity scent of this tea and it’s interesting to look at too, with white, green and brown leaves of varying shades. The flavours are quite a mish-mash though not an unpleasant one. There’s the nutty notes from the white teas, vegetal notes from the green teas, and toasty notes from the Formosa oolong. The fruity apricot notes are there too although I wish the tea was a bit sweeter, as I think that would accent the fruit flavours a bit better. Maybe if the blend had just a green oolong base maybe?
Iced Apricot Fusion is divine! I generally steer clear of anything that mentions green tea as it it is just too grass-like for me. Yet there was no grassy aftertaste here! It was a hot September day yesterday, and this tea truly hit the spot. So glad I tried it cold! It was the perfect little pick me up. :)
