A classic pairing – Champagne & Strawberries! This has the light, fruity, bubbly taste of champagne as well as a bright, sweet note of strawberries. So tasty!

Tea of the Week for July 15, 2024!

Wow, this turned out so good! I know I’ve said it more than once, but, I’m not much of a drinker, so it’s been YEARS since I’ve had a glass of champagne. I don’t even grab a glass of champagne to ring in the new year any longer. Once upon a time, I did, so my memories of the flavor of champagne are vague – but as I sip this, I’m reminded of those flavors – along with the sweet flavor of juicy strawberries!

This is very light & refreshing – pleasantly sweet & fruity! I like it best cold-brewed, which makes sense, since who likes hot champagne, anyway? It’s still tasty as a hot tea, but it’s even better iced!

organic ingredients: green rooibos, strawberries & natural flavors (non-alcoholic)

to brew: shake the pouch before measuring. Use 3 ½ grams to 12oz of freshly filtered water heated to 190°. Steep for 10 minutes & strain. enjoy!

serving suggestion: the first time I taste tested this, it was as a hot drink & it was really good. It tasted a bit more like strawberries & grapes than it did Champagne & Strawberries. I attribute this to the temperature of the tea because after the tea cooled a bit, I picked up more of a sparkling wine note than a grape note. The grape note was still evident (it is the main component of Champagne, after all) but it had more of a sparkling wine or Champagne-y kind of flavor to it than just grapes & strawberries.

All of that is to say, I think this makes a much better cold drink than a hot one. It’s still quite tasty as a hot beverage, but it takes on a more Champagne-y quality when it’s chilled. (it’s especially good as a cold-brew tea!) A bit of sugar will bring the flavors more into focus, however, this is really good without sweetener too!
