The 9th Tea of Christmas 2022!

Every year, I want to include a candy cane-ish type of tea & this is that tea for the year 2022. This candy cane inspired tea starts with a black tea base of black teas (Yunnan, Assam, Gu Zhang & Ceylon). Then I added some refreshing peppermint leaves from my home state of Washington, some vanilla beans, some cacao nibs & shells for just a hint of chocolate & finally, some crushed candy cane bits.

Sipdown 32

Doing terrible with my sip downs this year, but maybe I can get to 40 before the year is out. I’m also starting to drink my holiday teas again- it’s nice and cool and I’ve been feeling festive.
A 52Teas advent blend from last year? Maybe the year prior? This is so tasty. Dark chocolate and candied peppermint.
I’m going to be out of town for most of advent season, so wasn’t going to get a single advent, but couldn’t resist the 52Teas offering. I was having way too much FOMO even before advent season started.

Flavors: Candy Cane, Dark Chocolate, Peppermint

This one was from last year’s 12 Teas of Christmas. I’m glad to know that my box is one you can’t resist! :) Thank you!

This tastes distinctly like candy cane – sharp and fresh in just the right way. I also taste the background of high quality chocolate. With sugar and milk, this has been quite the pleasant cup of tea, especially once it cools down to room temperature. The mint lingers long after the sip is over.

Currently enjoying this tea – I wanted some caffeine (yes, it’s after midnight, but my sleep schedule is way off – in other words, I just woke up an hour ago) and this is the one I grabbed. I’m happy this is the tea that was on top of my stash because it has such a rewarding flavor. Pleasant notes of peppermint, chocolate & hints of vanilla with the rich black tea. A nice way to get my caffeine fix!

Ashmanra’s Sipdown Challenge | January 2023 | A tea that goes with snow

I am drinking this one in defiance of the weather, because it’s 37˚F and RAINY and I HATE IT. Bring on the snow! Please!!!

My work-from-home desk is situated right in front of a large window in our home office/yoga room/craft room, so I’m getting a front-row seat to the rain show. It sucks and I hate it. This tea is yummy, but it’s also making me wish I were drinking it on an actually snowy day. I am in A Mood.

The end.

9th Tea of Christmas 2022

Just a solid candy cane black tea with satisfying chocolate element. I don’t know if it’s the chemistry of the tea base or what but I love the chocolate flavouring more than I normally do in “chocolate teas”; it feels almost natural and compliments the sweetness of the peppermint candy so well.

Sadly, this tea didn’t last out yesterday. Didn’t even get the chance to try it with milk or eggnog.

Adventaggedon Day Twenty Two – 2/6

There’s a GIANT 24 oz latte mug in our office kitchen that has been calling my name since the start of advents, but I’ve yet to have a tea that both made sense to make as a latte and where I had enough of the tea in order to make the latte concentrate.

Today, however, was the day!

I ended up making this absolute unit of a latte to sip over the coarse of the afternoon, complete with crushed up candy canes to sprinkle over the mountain of frothed milk on top. It was really delicious. This is basically your typical candy cane tea (thankfully NOT fruity!) but with a nice chocolate note too – so it made for a latte that was almost more like a candy cane hot cocoa. Really festive, really tasty. Exactly what I needed for my last day working in office before our holiday break.
