Tea of the Week for October 31, 2022!

This is a tea idea that’s been in the back of my brain for a while now & I’m so glad to finally be sipping it now!

organic ingredients: green tea, toasted/popped rice, toasted coconut, marshmallow root & natural flavors

more about this tea: as I mentioned above, this is a tea idea that I’ve had for a while now, but sometimes, life doesn’t let you just get into the tea studio to create – I have to do things on a schedule – otherwise I’d have a lot of teas – but no room to store them!

So, this tea is finally here. Sweet, toasted coconut – a favorite snack of mine – makes a perfect addition to our original Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha. It adds just a little more creaminess & sweetness to it. I didn’t go too heavily on the coconut because I knew that it could take over & you wouldn’t taste much else – so there’s just enough coconut flavor to let you know that there’s a little something more than just marshmallow & toasted rice.

This is so good!

to brew: shake the pouch to ensure that the ingredients are well-incorporated. Measure out 3g of leaf to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & allow to steep for 2 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes..

serving suggestion: while I have enjoyed this both as a hot or an iced drink, I think I prefer it warm. If you allow it to cool for about 10 minutes – so that it’s pleasantly warm – not cold, not too hot – the flavors reach the “pop” point. So tasty!

Our original, customer favorite Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha combined with lots of toasted coconut! It’s a sweet treat that is oh-so-cozy & comforting! YUM!

ok no. Steepster MUST have eaten my tasting note on this tea. Right? Am I losing my mind? I could swear I’d already written a note for this. Which is why I didn’t take notes when I did a sipdown of this earlier today. Just know that I liked this one a lot. Coconut is a good combo with the marshmallow genmaicha flavor profile. Overall just a nice creamy, roasty drink on a cold day.

The first time I had this, I thought it tasted plain, boring, and a little metallic. I put it in my swap box, but a few months later, I decided to give it another try, and I’m glad I did. The second time I had this, it was quite creamy, and the coconut was authentic and tasty without being overpowering. The toastiness of the rice really complements the flavor profile too. I love how marshmallowy it is.

Do you ever have days that are not particularly taxing or difficult or even stressful, but by the end you just feel drained but also unsettled? That’s me right now! Maybe it’s because all my four-legged housemates are on edge. We adopted a beagle last fall, and she’s recently decided to eat cat poop out of the litterbox, which would be manageable if we could still use the high-walled litterbox we’ve had for a while, but now our cat is having mobility issues with her back legs/hindquarters and we’ve got to switch over to a shallow litterbox. We’ve got a covered one, but she’s not interested in using it yet. Plus she hates the beagle. XD Meanwhile our other two pups also seemed in strange moods today.

Aaanyway, the CONSTANT VIGILANCE (preventing the beagle from eating cat poop, preventing the cat from terrorizing the dog, etc.) has worn me out! So rather than go for an evening run, I decided to cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and a book and a pot of tea. Rummaging through my selection of green teas, this one spoke to me. It smells amazing — like a sugary sweet marshmallow with delicate notes of coconut and a bit of toastiness, topped with whipped cream. I’m getting more toastiness and less overt sweetness in the sip, though it’s remarkably light and mellow. I wouldn’t mind a bit more coconut (I’m only getting it on the back of the sip). Really tasty, though!

I’ve managed to keep the dogs occupied with Whimzees, so things have quieted down. At least one of them will inevitably vomit up their Whimzee later, but that’s a tomorrow problem. :D

We use Whimzees too!

Also my pups always conveniently wait until the middle of the night to randomly vomit lol… .

Big fan of Whimzees over here! And yes… I expect to be woken up by the sound of retching, then to hustle a pup off the bed in the middle of the night in the hopes she’ll vomit on the floor rather than our bed… hahaha.

Just happened to me last night, ha ha! >.<

Pet owners’ blues. When we wake up in the morning, it’s like tiptoeing through a mine field to avoid … things.

Kelmishka

Gmathis, it sure is! XD

This was a blend that a friend sent to me in a secret Santa exchange and I really like it! I think I’m going to have to place my first 52 Teas order… I generally love genmaicha so with the added buttery, creamy, toasted coconut I really liked this blend.

October 2022 Blend

This was a sipdown a day or so ago but wanted to give it a shoutout for being an awesome coconut genmaicha before it disappeared into the abyss. I normally enjoy coconut but found this generally steeped up to a particularly blissful level of creamy and toasty coconut. It’s a smart combo!
