149 Tasting Notes
I like first flush Darjeelings, and always buy them where ever I go. This one offers a good standard of what you can expect. A little too green for me, it still had nice notes of fresh spring peas. Would have liked some added complexity though.
Preparation
Maybe made in the Dragonwell style, but I doubt it actually comes from the region. Might have just gotten the last of the bag, but mine was mostly twigs and stem. Didn’t use boiling water (around 80c), but leaves still tasted burnt with no complexity.
Preparation
I’d definitely agree with the plum/prune sweetness in the description. However this tea left me wanting more. It was interesting to try a black tea from Japan, but it lacked the sophistication that I was expecting.
Reminded me of a black tea from Vietnam or elsewhere in south-east asia.
Preparation
Ooft. So I was really intrigued because I noticed a typo in Tea Palace. They call this tea an Uva region, but then on the packaging it calls it a Dimbula.
Definitely tastes more like a Dimbula. I was really disappointed in this tea, the majority of it was stem and twig. Left to brew, it really didn’t develop, just was bitter with no flavor.
Preparation
Its an alright brew, but to be honest I find the mixture of bergamont with various other “flavors” off putting. The honey like flavor at the end reminds me more of a soap detergent. Alright, but not ranking high on my “order again list”. What are the other flavors? I really wish harney had told us.
Preparation
A nice smooth Earl Grey, with a touch of silver needle tips added. I’m not sure if the white tea actually DOES anything, but it makes it pretty, and certainly leads to the name of Diamond Jubilee.
Not a complex tea, but a good tea.
Preparation
I really enjoyed this tea! The use of tea flowers is such an innovative idea, and it wasn’t too perfumed. I also enjoyed the use of a Ceylon tea. I tasted notes of wintergreen and other things. Maybe Amba is high-grown? Delicious!
Preparation
When Harney and Sons describe it as light, they mean light! I actually doubled the infusing time, as well as the normal amount of tea I use, and still struggled to get any flavor.
I would say the tea has gone stale a little, except that I can see it was packaged on Feb 15th.
