3 Tasting Notes
I went on a mini-spree at Davids Tea and bought three teas this week, one of which was The Skinny. I wanted something that tasted earthy and real—with The Skinny I found exactly what I was looking for.
This tea seems to polarize drinkers… it’s either a great tea, or it’s “dishwater”. I’m somewhere in the middle, as it seems more like a reliable cup of tea. At six minutes, it’s a strong tea which can be a turnoff for some. It’s not a treat/specialty tea by any means, but I would consider this an everyday tea. It’s a nice oolong, with just a hint of citrus and ginger that are ever-present in the after taste.
Preparation
Oh man, I loved this tea. (Trust me, love isn’t too strong a word to describe it!)
It’s a complex blend of flavours, with chocolate definitely singing through, though has a nice little kick to it from the Ancho and Aleppo chilis.
I sampled this one from David’s winter collection 2010 and this may have been the tea to hook me on loose leaf tea.
Either way, oh, so very, very yummy!
Received this tea as a present, and thoroughly enjoyed every last cup of it!
It’s a light, delicate and fruity tea that goes great with long afternoons on cold days when you’re looking for something a little more mellow and flavourful.
Also? I secretly hum a little Marvin Gaye every time I prepare it…
