Like most people, I was attracted to this for the name and the cute little maple leaf sprinkles added in. Since I generally enjoy maple flavors, I thought I’d like that too. And I wasnt disappointed. This has been a semi-regular purchase for me for a couple years now, and definitely my favorite sweet rooibos tea. The maple flavor is perfectly potent, its always very obvious which tea I brewed after this one, since the maple scent permeates into the air in the kitchen – and has just the right amount of flavor in the tea itself. To me its almost like a maple/vanilla/rooibos mix, which makes a very nice latte! Its a fun, patriotic tea and I hope they continue selling it, I think its just great.

drank Live Wire Lemon by DAVIDsTEA

Im generally not a huge fan of fruity teas, but I gave this one a sniff when perusing the new lineup in store this winter and my nose was intrigued enough that I decided to try a small amount to take home. I was surprised that I ended up liking it enough to repurchase. It very much reminds me of when you heat up hot water and lemon for a soothing drink – only with some added extra flavor added by the lemongrass. It claims to have ginger, but I honestly don’t taste much of it which is probably a good thing since Im not a huge fan. I also add honey and its a really nice simple soothing tea that tastes like a hot lemonade. Not something I’d call a favorite I reach for every single day, but definitely nice to have around for an occasional citrus craving.

drank Chocolate Rocket by DAVIDsTEA

This tea almost confuses me. Because I can’t decide if I like it or not! I drink a sip, and kind of hate the strong bitter chocolate taste (almost like if you’ve ever mixed cocoa powder in hot water without enough sweetener)..but then the mild raspberry taste hits and Im like hmm maybe its not so bad. And this repeats with every sip I taste. Its probably not going to be a favorite that I rebuy over and over, but I’ll probably use up what I have without too much dismay. I think chocolate/dessert tea lovers might enjoy this, but even then I would choose David’s chocolate orange over this as its just a much better blend of chocolate/fruit.

I bought this mainly because I was curious about this tea with valerian root that would be a helpful sleepy tea…but for me it did nothing. And to boot, it doesn’t even taste that great. Its not offensive, a mild peppermint, lightly fruity tea…but not something I’d drink for taste alone. If it worked to help me feel sleepy or helped me sleep, I’d probably drink it for that benefit but since it doesn’t do anything on that front, I can’t see myself ever drinking this for taste when there are so many other better flavored teas out there.

Now that Exotica was discontinued, Coco Chai moved up into #1 spot of my teas. I love the little peppercorns and the flavor they inject into teas, and this mix of coconut and rooibos works perfectly together for a mildly spiced chai that still retains some sweetness. When I don’t have a particular tea craving or can’t decide what I feel like having, Coco Chai always fits the bill. Its a tea that always tastes good, always satisfies and I hope it doesn’t get discontinued! Davids tea has been discontinuing too many teas too quickly lately!!

drank Currant Affair by DAVIDsTEA

I am SO sad this has been discontinued. This was one of my favorite teas from Davids. Blackcurrent is such a wonderful flavor for a tea, but everywhere else it appears it is overpowed by combining it with blueberry or strawberry or some other more potent fruit flavor. Current affair however was a pure current flavor which was fragrant but not overly fruity. Having spent time in England, this tea always reminds me of there, where current flavored candies/juices etc are much more common so its a popular choice for nights of British TV viewing. I hope they bring it back, or something similar!

This was one of my least favorite teas from Davids. I like chai and slightly spicy teas but this was REALLY spicy. It was like an overdose of cinnamon mixed with hot peppers which is totally overpowering no matter how little I use or how short of time I steep it for – and I dont taste any orange flavor through those other two flavors! I’ve been trying to use it up by mixing it with other chai teas in small doses but I feel like I might be ending up throwing out some of it.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by DAVIDsTEA

Im a fan! I havent really loved a coconut tea from Davids Tea since the long discontinued Pina Colada (and I’ve tried almost all of them!) But this one surprised me by how much I immediately liked it. Im surprised so many people have reviewed it as being similar to Coconut Oolong because to me they are quite different. Coconut Oolong was blown out of the water by this one. In comparison, I notice CO has a much nuttier flavor, taking away from the coconut. CCP is lovely, the white chocolate sweetens up the coconut and gives it the warm creamy taste that a lot of other coconut tea attempts have failed at. I wish it was a smidge less ‘toasted coconut’ flavor, but that minor detail hasn’t stopped me enjoying it.

I wasnt expecting to like this, because generally I havent liked chocolate flavored tea. But I was looking for orange flavored stuff and this actually smelled really nice so I gave it a try. And it ended up becoming one of my faves this winter! If you’ve ever had orange flavored chocolate, this really tastes JUST like it. Its a perfectly equal blend of chocolate and orange flavor, and the pu-erh works well with it, not overpowering, and allows the two other flavors to come through instead. Works absolutely fantastic as a latte as well, its like a perfect low calorie orange flavored hot chocolate.

drank Exotica by DAVIDsTEA

This was my absolute favorite tea at Davids Tea and Im so sad that it was discontinued – BRING IT BACK!! I think its just so unique. It reminds me of an herbal/fruity sort of chai tea. Very light and clean tasting with the lemongrass which comes out perfectly, a hint of fruity pineapple but so lightly that it doesnt come off as a fruity tea. And the red peppercorns which I just love in any tea. I think its really the mix of the red peppercorns and the lemongrass which is the magic combination for me, sweet but slightly spicy.
