Go for the atmosphere! This beautiful tea house is imported from Tajikistan and it’s a great way to spend an afternoon in Boulder. If you’re really serious about Puerhs or Oolongs this probably isn’t the best place, but they do have quality herbal and floral teas. However, they do host the Rocky Mountain Tea Festival, which brings many experts and workshops to Dushanbe. Don’t miss David Lee Hoffman’s workshops, he is arguably the best presenter each year.
So many good memories, great tea, fantastic food, and the atmosphere is inspiring!
Today my granddaughter and I went to the Dushanbe Teahouse for the first time on a beautiful warm Spring day. It was just after lunch rush and still a bit busy so we went to the bar for our tea, figuring this would put us in the right spot for serious tea drinking and for viewing the intricately carved and colorfully painted ceiling. Wow, on the interior of the tea house! This is like a beautiful painted box only gigantic! No way to discribe how beautiful it is and right next to the park with outdoor seating as well.
I asked for the tea menu and the bar attendents and I chatted about the Puer selections avalilable. I wanted to try something unfamiliar and went with a light bamboo Puer perfect for the warm weather. My granddaughter had a blended iced tea. What I appreciated was the attention to detail on the timing, the ease of basket steeping control, the quantity in the pot and the quality of the Puer. I asked about origin..smelled the Puer in the bamboo before trying and chatted about the buyer and history of Dushanbe. I will return. This is a Teahouse for restful tea drinking. I will come back though at a less busy time. There was entirely too much hussle and business close to the bar with waitpersons going to the kitchen.
The second visit to Dushanbe was on Mother’s Day after the rush 2012. I was with my daughter. We sat at the bar and had the best waffles. The service as always was excellent. The disappointment was the tea. My Puerh was dusty. It came from the bottom of the container and should have been rinsed. When I asked about it, I was told that it was not a regular practice to rinse the puerh before service. Red Flag for me on not being trained properly on Puerh’s. The dust (not earthy flavor…which would have been good) was the worse tea I’ve ever been served anywhere ever! To the credit of the server I was given a comment card and filled it out. I hope adjustments to training will be made because Dushanbe is a spectacular tea house otherwise.
This is a beautiful and relaxing place. I have enjoyed the breakfast and brunch menus. The tea selection is large enough that I haven’t gotten through it in my visits, at least in the visits when I haven’t given in to the house chai, which is good and peppery. Teas are served with an hourglass steeping timer. The wait staff is knowledgable about the teas offered. The service is slow (sometimes very slow) but considerate. Relax, have another cup of tea, take in the hand carved and painted walls and ceiling, listen to the burbling fountain, and enjoy some time with your friends or family. Not a place to pop in if you are in a hurry.

This is a tea shop you will remember long after you leave. Forty artisans worked on the hand-painted, hand-carved ceilings, column, fountain, tables etc. Beyond the awe-inspiring building itself, the tea selection is noteworthy — especially the Phoenix Collection. The food selection is not as vast but it partners well with the teas. You really can’t visit Boulder without coming to the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse.
This place is awesome. The building is incredible with a great story, make sure to read the menu to learn about its history. The tea list is fairly extensive and there are several choices for every kind of tea. The food is excellent as well, I have not had one thing bad on the menu yet.
I love this tea house. It is a beautiful building, with delicious food and a fairly extensive tea list. The servers are knowledgeable about the teas they serve (as well as sell in a small shop).
Love the Dushanbe Teahouse – for it’s decor, its service. They don’t have a huge tea selection, but it’s all quality tea and the house chai is fantastic :)
