I see this tea as special. I found it at a yard sale with 3 servings left and couldn’t find it on steepster. So as I make the last cup I’ll write a review. It doesn’t have its ingredients listed and the website on the tin doesn’t work.
Subtle sweetness with delicate almond fragrance and taste. Indistinguishable black tea. Not bad. I’ll miss it. More of an almond tea with black undertones

It’s not pure smoke, you can taste the tea, and it’s good :) I love cooking with it and taking it camping.

I loved the plum, green, and white tea taste. Maybe the strawberry leaf made it a little bitter but whatever, I love drinking it with shortbread cookies

I really want to like rose as a flavor in tea, it’s so very good in food but I don’t think black tea was the way to go. The longer I steeped it the more rosy it got.. to the point it reminded me of old lady perfume. Couldn’t taste the black tea enough to taste any flavor notes. Just rose and dry mouth. Plus zhenas uses artificial flavoring

I drank this tea all through high school, I’d take bags with me to school and make tea in classes with cool teachers. it was my first experience with a higher quality tea. At first I thought sage was just in a name because I didn’t taste it at all. I love the fragrant blackberry steam to this day. Its a really delicate tea, I couldn’t find any regionally characteristic black tea taste. But I still drink it constantly, at least until I find a better go to tea. Even then i’ll still drink this out of nostalgia.

I’ve never tried RoT, what do you think about them in general compared to other brands?

A great dinner tea, I drank it piping hot because as it cooled it got more bitter and dry. No sweet undertones, just mossy and toasty.

I don’t know if it was me or the tea. I thought it was way too sweet. Maybe I dislike rooibus or it was just a bad first time. Didn’t really taste any lavender just an almost sickly sweet taste

I’m done with zhenas I think :( the tins are so pretty but the teas are always meh. The raspberry is really fragrant in the cup which is great, the Black tea doesn’t leave too bitter an aftertaste unless overbrewed. The bergamont almost undetectable. Overall pretty meh.

I friggin love this tea. Never astringent, sweet, malty, almost caramely. Amazing Kenyan tea, or maybe I just really like kenyan tea. Love the tea shop as well.

Brews up dark, smells like fresh moss and rain.. although that could be because I’m from the Pacific northwest and I always turn to a strong black breakfast tea. A little astringent as it cools but not overly so. Perfect for pairing with milk and sugar for cozying up. Also perfect piping hot straight black on the go for a morning wake up. A really strong basic tea.
one of the better bagged Black teas I’ve had.

I’m not a tea snob. Just a tea enthusiast bumbling around trying anything new. I try not to discriminate about tea types yet because I’ve not yet had the highest grade of anything, just bagged teas. So far I love black teas and the furthest I’ve ventured into green tea is a basic organic bagged green, various floral combinations which I love, especially jasmine, and bancha. I also love floral, fruity, herbal and medicinal teas. Haven’t tried any un flavored oolongs worth talking about. I haven’t tried white tea, pu-erh, yellow, or purple.

On my bucket list of black teas:
Tanyang gongfu, zhenghe gongfu, bailin gongfu (the fujian reds) jin + yin junmei, keemun, dian hong, yin de hong, jiu qu hong mei, tibeti, nepali, Sun moon lake, munnar, kangra, nilgiri, Darjeelimy

I also can’t wait to try a white silver needle tea.
