82 Tasting Notes
It’s a really cold night so I’m staying in, and making another samovar sample :)
omg. This is so good. It’s light, and has a malty flavor to it. I think I’m realizing that I love yuunan leaves. This has such a great flavor to it I can’t even describe it. Such a delicious cup.
Preparation
“It’s SO good, like drinking candy!” — my housemate, a few minutes ago.
Just brewed a pot of this and split it with my housemate, and she obviously likes it.
Still waiting for my cup to cool down but the tea smells really strong of apricot. I’m not a huge fan of apricot but I knew that this blend would be a good one.
Mmmm, yeah, this tea is absolutely delish. I can taste some apricot, but it’s not overpowering and the teas stand out more. I definitely taste the white tea and some green in there… but overall it’s just a great blend. There is a slight aftertaste from the apricot, but, it’s not that bad.

I got this from Jaime in the take it away thread, and figured it’d be perfect for my sickness right now.
Not really tasting much, but there is some apple i’m tasting. I’ve found that chamomile teas are pretty bland. Maybe that’s just the kind i’ve been drinking. Not a bad overall flavor though, The apple flavor is a nice touch to this tea. It’s a perfect choice right now when i really just want a soothing, mellow, tea :)

I’ve been feeling sickish lately, so I don’t know how good my taste buds are, but I really wanted some samovar black tea :) sample time!
I can’t really say how it smells because I am completely congested. Added skim milk & equal.
Hmmm, this is kind of strange. I can’ really taste much of it but what I do it doesnt taste so good. I’m getting some sour notes which I’m pretty sure is from the citrus. The tea also has a weird grainy texture to it, or maybe thats just me. I’m going to chalk this up to my lack of taste buds right now and the fact that me and flower teas never really seem to get along and say this is not so good. I’ll hold off on a rating for now though.

wow. This is so light, and I thought I had almost oversteeped it! Even with skim milk and sugar this tea still is so light, but so absolutely delicious. It has a malty, creamy taste to it. I almost wish there was more flavor to it. But as a softer black tea this is so delish!

Just got this in the mail! I couldn’t wait to try it :) The smell of the tea just smells fruity in general, can’t really seem to pick out any specific smells.
Wow, this tastes pretty good. Definitely very fruity, but i like how i still taste green tea in it. Something is giving me a weird aftertaste, i think it might be the ginger? I think I should have let it steep a little longer though, the flavor is pretty subtle right now. That’s what second steeps are for :P

I don’t know if it’s just me, but all of these black tea samovar samples pretty much smell exactly the same to me. added some skim milk and equal to this cup~
MMMMM. this first sip is just so nice. exactly what i needed for a caffeine kick. It has sweetness to it and still has nice black flavor to it. just wow. The lemon flavor is a little weird, giving a sour aftertaste sometimes but still this tea is just so delicious!

I’ve been exhausted all day, seems all I do is homework. Still need to get work done, so time for some more black tea samplers ;)
The smell of this is not too appetizing. It smells smoky, but the rooibos smell is strong as well. I’m not sure whether milk and sugar would go well with this because of the rooibos, so I’m trying it first without—not bad, I could definitely drink this on its own. The harshness of black tea subdued by the rooibos flavor, and the smokyness gives a nice kick to it.
Adding some sugar made the tea just sweet enough to really enjoy. I think I’ll try adding milk to my second steep… if it comes out well. So far the samovar black samplers have lasted 2~4 infusions just like the package says. I’m not used to resteeping black teas.

I have been dying to try this one. Does it actually have rooibos in it? I thought it was just a smoky black tea.
it definitely has actual rooibos leaves in it. i was surprised because i wasn’t expecting it when i poured it into my infuser and tiny rooibos leaves came out. It was a nice combo :)
It’s a long day of homework and I need a caffeine kick, so I’m going to another samovar sample.
The tea smells very strong and somewhat smoky. Added some skim milk and equal, and wow this tea tastes pretty good. It’s got some sweetness to it, but still has a strong bite to it (in a good sense). I’m not getting much of a smoky flavor, which is what I prefer. It’s a very ‘comfortable’ tea. It makes me feel warmer just drinking it. I’m really enjoying this flavor.

My black tea sampler from samovar came in today! For the price I paid (which was a lot—even with the steepster select) i secretly hoped it would be more than just 1 time samplers. But oh well~
this tea smells faintly like vanilla, but more on the weird side. I’m not sure whether or not to add milk and sugar….but after just taking a tiny sip I guess I’m going to. Yeah, the flavor is definitely better.
I can see why they say it “appeals to coffee drinkers”. Somehow it has similar tastes overall to coffee, but I can’t really pick out any specific flavors in it. I’m tasting some vanilla for sure but it’s not the most prominent flavor. Hmm, flavor profile says it has black pepper, that would make sense for this slightly weird flavor i’m tasting. I think the pepper is leaving a slightly weird after taste as well, but overall it’s a good tea. Really can’t say more considering I’m not that into black teas.
