26 Tasting Notes

3 days after I ordered 6 boxes of this on Amazon (at $3/box + $6 shipping!) I saw it had arrived at Walmart! I snagged the only 5 boxes on the shelf. I’m really glad they had them because my Amazon order still hasn’t arrived yet. It was perfect timing because I had just used up my last 6 bags to make a big tumbler full to take to my night class. It was the only thing that was gonna get me through! It’s a 2 hour and 40 minute class and the teacher usually doesn’t give breaks. If she does, it’s like one that lasts 5 minutes. Most of my classes are an hour longer than this one so it should seem pretty short, but not when we don’t even get a break!

Anyway, back to the tea.

The new box smelled more orangey than my box from last year. I’m not sure if that’s because my old box was getting old? Or if they’ve changed the ingredients at all? The order of the ingredients is the same on the box, and it seemed to taste the same, so I’m not too worried. I’m curious to see if the boxes I got online smell any different.

As I type this I’m steeping 5 bags in a 16 ounce tumbler with 1 teaspoon of german rock sugar. I’m gonna let it go about 12 minutes, then add a little bit of unsweetened almond milk. I’m hoping the almond milk doesn’t do more harm than good! After that I’m gonna try it unsweetened, which I haven’t tried in a while. I usually don’t sweeten my teas anyway. I bet I won’t even notice that much of a difference!

OK! Tea’s done. :)

I filled the rest of the tumbler up with the unsweetened almond milk. Maybe the top inch or so?

And…it’s not bad! I still don’t think the flavor is as good as it is without the milk, but the consistency sure is comforting. :) And the color looks great! Something I would be proud to serve to guests. :) The color would not scare them away. haha I think I will use more sweetener next time I use the almond milk, and save this concoction for special occasions.

This tea just disappeared without going on clearance or anything. I knew it was being discontinued but I thought I’d get a chance to buy some more first. :(

I’m seriously obsessed with this tea, and have cravings for it all the time. When I first got it I just didn’t know how to make it right. This is before I was really that into tea. Then a month or two ago I decided to try making it again. This time in my 24 ounce cast iron. I used 6 teabags, and 1 teaspoon of german rock sugar. I can’t remember how long I let it steep for? Probably about 10 minutes? I was hooked. It was soooo perfectly delicious. But I only had that one box. So I decided to save it for the next time I had a huge sweet craving late at night, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy any more in store for a while. I tried to put this tea to the back of my mind and just be patient…

Then a couple days ago I decided to make it again. 4 teabags in a 16 ounce tumbler. Steeped 15 minutes with a little under a teaspoon of german rock sugar. And that is when I became absolutely addicted to this tea. I have cravings for it constantly, but I only have 5 bags left in the box so I’m freaking out. Friday I ordered 6 boxes online, and I’m guessing it should be here within the next few days! I seriously cannot wait! I’m gonna let myself have some of this today because I know more should be arriving soon. :)

This tea makes me so happy; if they ever discontinue it I don’t know what I will do! Actually I’ve already decided that I will have to try to recreate it because I just can’t live without it.

OH and when my tea arrives in the mail I’m going to make my oatmeal with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so incredibly excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is definitely my top fave tea of all time right now. And it comes in a freaking tea bag!

I’m just really curious what the ‘natural sugar cookie flavor’ is in this. And can I get it in its raw form? Stock up for the end times????

Sorry all my posts today are kinda long and freaky because I’m seriously half asleep……. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is a really good tea! I can’t comment on any specifics because I drank it last night, but it was definitely a good tea. It surprised me. I thought it would turn out incredibly weak, no matter how I made it. It actually had a good balance of flavors, and I’m curious to see what a teeny bit of sweetener might do for it.

That’s funny everyone is saying it’s just like Forever Nuts! I ordered from DavidsTea for the first time last week, and I’m still waiting for my order to arrive. I considered trying Forever Nuts, but my local tea shop gets in a similar blend around October or November so I opted not too. Sometimes I hate spending money on such heavy teas because they just don’t go very far! But if it can satisfy a craving for sweets I have no problem spending the money.

I’m just not quite sure this one would satisfy a craving for sweets like my favorite winter tea, Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. :)

Overall, I’m not super disappointed that this is just a seasonal tea. But I am definitely excited to try it again.

OH, and if I remember correctly I used one tablespoon of tea for around 8 ounces? But I can’t remember how long I steeped it for? Probably around 6-10 minutes. I was worried that totally over-steeping this one would make the flavors too imbalanced so I was pretty careful with it.

drank Tranquil Dream by Teavana
26 tasting notes

So I spent around $60 ordering tea off the internet last week. Then I took a visit to Teavana because I wanted some more Blueberry Bliss and Peach Tranquility just to hold me over until all my new teas arrived from DavidsTea and Amazon (I am hooked on Celestial Seasonings’ Sugar Cookie Sleigh ride and they’re finally selling it at a reasonable price again!). I ended up also trying out this, and Caramel Almond Amaretti, which is their new seasonal tea.

I’ve always been sensitive to caffeine, but lately it’s been even worse. Monday night I drank two glasses of iced green tea, and literally couldn’t even go to my night class I got so sick! So for a while I’m totally staying away from any tea that’s not herbal, rooibos, or white…

This tea is really nothing special. I used a tablespoon for around 8 ounces of tea. That’s double what’s recommended. I steeped w/boiling water for 6 minutes, and it’s still pretty darn weak. The aroma is great, but I’m not even getting any of that tartness everyone is talking about? Honestly, it reminds me of some cheap bagged tea. Next time I will try brewing it for a longer time. Maybe 12-ish minutes? I’ll also try using a bit more tea.

I can’t even really describe any of the flavors it’s so weak. There’s nothing bad about it, but nothing really good either.

I just wish Teavana would be honest about the number of teaspoons required to make a cup. I don’t care if I’m only gonna get 10 cups out of 2 oz. of tea instead of 30, but just tell me that on the directions so I know how to make it right the first time! It would actually encourage people to buy more of the expensive straight teas if they realized they were actually an equivalent, or even better, deal. I may spend $15 to get a good green tea there, but I only need to use 1 teaspoon to make a cup, and I can usually resteep at least once! In my opinion herbals need to be made a bit stronger because they don’t have any tea or rooibos as a base, so light/delicate just equals boring! haha So they just need to be upfront about that. :)

I don’t necessarily regret this buy, because made stronger it will probably be decent. I also might try blending it with something else. If nothing else it will be fun to experiment with. I will try to do another tasting note if this turns out any better next time!

THIS TEA IS BEING DISCONTINUED! I’m a little sad about it, but it also means I’ll be able to buy some more at like 40% off sometime between now and Christmas. :)

Krystal

It’s in the stores now :)

I didn’t see it at my local Teavana- they must have run out before they could put it on sale! But it’s cool, it would have just been a tease anyway. lol :)

Krystal

Oh no that sucks :( I’m lucky enough to be right by three of them

I wasn’t a huge fan of this. It smelled like chocolate- then at first it just tasted like a nice light black tea. But then all of the sudden the spiciness really hit the back of my throat and it was almost painful. I had 3 sips and then had to dump it out. I might try it again and steep for only 4 minutes and see how it is. I must admit, I ended up steeping a couple minutes longer than I should have because I got distracted…
