336 Tasting Notes
Just had a nice dinner: black japonica rice with black beans, spaghetti squash, saffron, cardamom and a tiny bit of balsamic vinegar + some tofu with home made tomato chutney. Finishing this with a lovely cup of jasmine tea from Mandala Tea. Actually wouldn’t mind sharing this with some of you :)
It has some nice notes of apple/cider. I steeped it longer than the recommended time and that’s how I like it. For me jasmine is a perfect after dinner tea.
Bought some Zodiac tea tins as a gift for my friends, went to Adagio website and could not see the link anywhere. Strange … Anyway found it via search. Bought Leo blend for myself; looking forward to some flavored teas for a change.
I have never had anything quite like this tea. It has this aquatic, hard to describe quality. It also has some very uplifting impact on my mood; this tea makes me happy.
Inguna!! So happy this makes you happy! When I first had the mao cha from this while at the pickers house, I became a bit obessesed with it. There is something in the energy of this tea that is dare I say, almost psychoactive, in a great way of course.
Interesting that so many others are describing the same things with it as you and I have discovered. I am going to work at doing a pressing of this tea each spring. Different years will have slight variations due to weather, of course, and I look forward to seeing what the years will bring to each aging cake!
p.s. – I just completed an 8 leaf blend that will contain leaves from other farms I visited there this past April. I could only get so much of the leaves but will have enough to have 150 of the 250 gram cakes pressed. It’s gonna be funky! Funky, in this musician’s opinion = tasty!
I’ve been drinking this for a long time and bought another package yet again. I love it because it allows me to brew tea with very little fuss, it lasts forever and there is variety.
I would highly recommend it.
I just got this item from Mandala Tea and it is a lovely collection. The teas are distinctly different and I am hoping to find out which teas specifically are included so I can add a more comprehensive review. Very fun way to learn about Pu’er tea. Also it would seem that each mini brick can make from 6-8 cups of tea.
I’ve been so busy with work that I feel like a design ninja handling multiple projects at once.
There is, however, always some time for tea.
I’m really happy with this purchase. Mini-tuochas look like super cute little bonbons + it’s a generous amount. I think it’s great deal, highly recommended!
The smell of this tea is intoxicating, it seeps through even when the tin it closed.
Pisces is light, yet very flavorful blend that packs a punch of all different flavors blended together. I can taste the grapefruit, chamomile, rooibos and lemongrass but none of the flavors overwhelms the other. They all come together nicely. What a treat!
I ordered Aquarius, & it came today, however I can’t taste or smell anything right now, so I’m waiting…It’s assam, hazelnut, & vanilla, sounds like heaven to me!
I’m afraid I’ve been completely sucked in the world of Pu’er.
I have never tried Sheng Pu’er before and Wild Monk Sheng Pu’er has been a marvelous introduction. To me it tastes like sweet, dried apples/hay/grass, no bitterness whatsoever. When it cools down I can detect some smokey notes. It’s a complex tea you really want to drink more and get to know it.. Pretty sure I will re-order.
Never heard that one before. Sucked in…ha ha ha! I had a pot of lightly steeped Shu today then I let the second steep go about 5 minutes and it still was mello…so I guess I got Sucked in too!
I am so happy that you are enjoying this, my friend! When I was visiting the place where this was grown and drinking it, I was captivated right away… I bought many, many pounds of the leaf to commission a pressing and the grower sent me back to America with a nice sized bag of the mao cha so that I could keep drinking it whilst waiting for the shipment to arrive – I am pleased with this tea and look forward (while not wishing time away) to what will become of this cake over the years.
While several of our customers are already brewing this with a full boil, others have responded well to brewing it at green tea temp or a little above with favorable results. fun to try both ways.
I was at a meditation retreat these last few days and I was using the leaf in my tea thermos and loving it.
Thank you for your review of the tea. I am grateful!
This is an outstanding blend: It smells amazing and tastes even better. Raspberry, bergamot are creme and so well balanced. Probably my new favorite.
I would highly recommend it.
I’ve been drinking quite a lot of pu’erh lately, so this is a welcome change. It’s light, floral with hints of honey, apricots and peaches. Looks very pretty too.
Ordered Pisces blend for my friend as a gift and even with the box closed it smelled SO good that I decided I must order it for myself as well.
Ordered from Mandala tea for the first time; exited to try all the new pu’erh teas.
Just had black japonica rice with saffron, chickpeas and home made tomato chutney with tofu strips. Finishing with a large cup of Cornfields Shu.
The sweet and smooth finish of this tea makes me think of my aunt’s dairy farm, all the smells of hay, linen, wild flowers, barn. Lovely.
