3 Tasting Notes

I wouldn’t brew this tea for the 4 or 5 minutes as recommended above. It seems to over brew fairly easily. It took me a few cups to really hit it right. 3.5 minutes at the most. So far I have found this tea to be a little thin in aroma and character. The flavor is good though. It hints of Darjeeling which is expected. I agree with the other tasting notes about the hay and vegetal flavors. The finish is pleasant, and mildly astringent. This would be a good tea to drink if you are consuming a lot of tea in a day and you aren’t pausing consider it. It’s good, but not great.

I purchased a few ounces of this from Tea House Kuan Yin and it is really good. Their note about the brewing temperature is worth paying attention to. I have been brewing at 180º for two minute and it has been coming out great. The flavor and aroma is excellent, just as stated above.

This is a really good white tea. That being said it maintains a hit of that characteristic Darjeeling muscatel flavor which you find in all the regions black teas. My experience with it has been that it is much lighter than this websites description of it. Darjeeling is just starting to produce good green and white teas, but they don’t quite have it dialed yet. You won’t be disappointed with the Arya, but if you are looking for a sublime experience you may want to look elsewhere. I tend to drink this in the afternoon when I want some tea, but don’t want to commit to much stimulation. It’s absolutely worth a try if you’re into Darjeeling’s.
