What to buy today?!
On my lunch break today I will be heading to my local Teavan to purchase some new teas, but I am at a hault! I don’t know which ones I should try… If it were up to me I would just go in there and buy 20oz of all different types of teas to try, but as you know that gets a bit pricey! So, I am asking for suggestions before I go tea crazy! :-)
The only tea I’ve tried from Teavana that I liked was Sweet Oolong Revolution, but based on my desires and personal tastes I would suggest: Emerald Bamboo Forest, Spice of Life, Body + Mind, Matcha, Weight to Go!, Skinnny Chai, Strawberry Slender, and Masala Chai
If you haven’t tried matcha yet and are a little nervous about it, I strongly suggest you ask them to make you some. I really wanted to try matcha, but I was nervous cuz I thought that matcha and matcha sets had to be extremely expensive, but then one day I found a cafe that serves it and COMPLETELY fell in love w/ only a $2.50 committment:)
The two Teavanas I like best so far are tisanes: Strawberry Lemonade and Rooibos Tropica. Kamiya Papaya was surprisingly decent as well.
@Cofftea – Spice of Life and Body + Mind are actually on my list of teas to try from there! And speaking of Matcha, I LOVE Matcha! I haven’t had Teavana’s brand before, but there is this amazing Matcha by RuaTEA called “Sweet Matcha”, the lady sells it from her etsy store and it is definitley the best Matcha I have ever had!
@Morgana – The Strawberry Lemonade I want to try, but I think it would probably only be good iced? Which isn’t a bad thing, I just can’t seem to be able to make a large pitcher of iced tea, but I can make a personalized glass of it…darn, user errors!
Matcha on Etsy? Interesting… Although I don’t like any sweetener added to any of my teas. But yes, at the very least treat yourself to some made instore then:)
I made a really awesome pitcher of iced tea once but haven’t been able to do it again. I definitely understand your user errors.
My teavana favs are : Almond Biscotti, Apricot Caramel Torte and Raspberry Riot Lemon Mate (only had this one iced, amazing!)
Jessica and Meghann M, I’d be interested in hearing your MOs for making iced tea vs. hot tea. I have had no problems making small or large quantities- but the only think I change when I make a large amount it s the amount of water and leaf.
I drink the Strawberry Lemonade hot. I was looking for a good lemon tisane for night time (no caffeine) and this one is sweet without adding anything to id.
I’ve had very few teas from Teavana, but I LOVE their Almond Biscotti.
@Meghann M – I am glad you understand my pain with the iced tea, hehe. Almond Biscotti sounds like it would be good as well.
@Cofftea – Honestly I have never tried making iced tea from loose leaf tea because I am afraid I will just waste my “good stuff”. I’ve tried numerous times with tea bags, such as Lipton and follow the instructiones on the box and also tried friends advice on how they prepare it and it never fails, it’s either too light in taste or too bitter so I gave up a long time ago! LOL. When I do a personalized size of iced tea I use my loose leaf tea and just add double or sometimes triple the amount of leaves I would normally put for for a my normal 8oz cup, but still put the same amount of hot water (8oz) and then put that hot tea into a cup and fill with ice.
@Everyone – Thank you all for all of your suggestions so far!
I refrigerate the tea instead of adding ice. Personally think the true waste is using 2x leaves so this way I don’t have to. Well, I can almost promise you that you won’t get good iced tea if you don’t use the good stuff. Life is too short to drink bad tea! Just curious as to why you think it’s “wasting” tea to drink something you like the way you want it?
I’m afraid it will turn out wrong (like how it is when I tried using tea bags!) and then I would have wasted my good stuff :-(
Now I don’t know why I never thought of that…making a normal batch of hot tea and then just refrigerate it! Blonde moment, perhaps?! I think I may have gotten too wrapped up with how tea bars recommend how to make iced tea and never thought of a simple solution myself bonks self on forehead! I’ll give your way a try, thanks!
my morning mate, Snow Geisha® White Tea, Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls Green Tea, Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos Tea
@AmazonV – Thank you, I actually have the last 2 that you mentioned, but the combo of all 3 sound amazing! Do you use equal parts of each one?
lol! i usually don’t mix them all, but i do play mix and match between them all
1/3 snow geisha / 1/3 jasmine pearls / 1/3 Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibo OR
1/2 Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos and 1/2 my morning mate OR
1/2 Snow Geisha and 1/2 jasmine pearls OR
1/2 Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos and 1/2 Snow Geisha
@LiberTEAS – no she’s not back sadly (at least as of about a week or two when I checked), but I have noticed some recent feedback of products and I think one person mentioned she e-mailed her and was able to get some tea so perhaps that works? I may have to try doing that to get some more of her matcha! I also wanted to try some of her other teas as well.
@AmazonV – Thank you! I will have to try some of these combos out!
So here is the verdict… I got Almond Biscotti and Spice of Life! I did really good, I usually spend way to much, but perhaps since I just paid 4 of my bills yesterday I knew my pocketbook was already hurt LOL. I did cave however and pick up a tin of Tazo’s Vanilla Rooibos for work. ;-)
Again, thank you everyone who put their suggestions and thoughts out there, I appreciate it!
