I LOVE love LOVE this tea! OMG!
For a couple of years now, I’ve been on a quest of sorts: to find the best grapefruit flavored tea. It all started after visiting a tea house in Arizona, and loving the grapefruit tea that I had there. I even chatted with someone else from Steepster, and he managed to locate the tea supplier of the tea house, and learned that the grapefruit tea that they serve there is the one from Lupicia. I had tried the tea from Lupicia… and somehow, it just didn’t taste the same. I suspect it has something to do with the water composition in Arizona, or something because I am not able to get the grapefruit green tea from Lupicia to taste as good as I remember the green tea was that I enjoyed at that tea house.
But I think I may have found the grapefruit tea! And can you believe that it happens to be a wine-infused green tea with grapefruit peel? This is absolutely MARVELOUS! The grapefruit is prominent, but, it captures the sweet elements of the fruit while the bitter elements of the grapefruit are somehow softened or eliminated … I don’t know. But this is not bitter, this just tastes like sweet grapefruit. With a hint of fruity wine. And sweet, slightly vegetative green tea.
And it tastes wonderful. I love this.
This is pinned as their “Light and Playful” tea. I will agree – it’s on the lighter side of things…but I feel that’s ideal for a white tea! As for playful…I suppose it is based on the ingredients!
This has a LOT of features and a LOT to bring to the table…or should I say…YOUR CUP!
Upon opening the tube I could smell airy and crisp Honeysuckle, Floral, Apricot, and Apple scents. These contents don’t shout – but don’t whisper, either.
The taste of this flavored white is FAB. I can taste the white tea base which is always a PLUS. It doesn’t get drowned out by the other flavors. They work nicely together. I can also taste lemon and Jasmine. The end-sip on to the after taste I found peach, lemon, and guava flavors coming into play!
AH HA!!!! Playful! I get it NOW! And I agree! Light AND Playful!
This is considered Vintage TeaWorks “Fresh and Racy” offering.
I’ve smelled a lot of tea but I’ve never smelled a tea like this before! It’s quite amazing! I smelled very fresh green tea with grapefruit, floral, and apple notes. It is very special. There is a little bit of a ‘dry’ smell to it much like you would find in a drier wine.
Upon my first sip – I was near speechless! THIS DOES TASTE LIKE WINE!!!!!
I’m totally astonished at how much this company MADE their teas to resemble wine! They say are NOT trying to recreate wine just celebrating wine and tea together! I would say their mission was certainly accomplished! WOW!
I have to say the grapefruit flavors are my fave part in this one, tho! Not over the top but very nicely flavored!
Coined as their “Full and Luscious” offering…this Wine inspired Tea – is just that! It’s classy, it’s sexy, it’s a creative cuppa!
I can totally see the Chardonnay connection.
The ingredients are obvious when you look at them dry. The aroma is gorgeous!
The color after infusing is a light grey-green-brown type color…mostly ‘see-thru’.
The fruits of Papaya and Orange go together lovely. Juicy and plump!
The Cinnamon and rose are subtle but mesh well! They seem to complement the Oolong Base.
The ingredient that really speaks to me in the Vanilla BEAN. It has the BEAN flavor…not just that vanilla taste. I also really like the Vanilla BEAN paired with the Papaya. They are FAB!
This is delicious! A tea to contemplate but also relax with…and don’t forget to kick up your heels!
I had 3 cups of this so far today. I wanted to drink a bit last night of actual WINE or BEER or SOMETHING because it was a doo-zee of a day but I didn’t, so, I started today with this one…and LOTS of it! LOL :)
I’m curious about their wine tea line. Heard they made quite the splash at World Tea East this year.
I started my day with this one again…it’s a Friday…Merlot Tea…yeah…it’s a FRIDAY! :)

Thanks!
Which ones didn’t you order??? I’ll send you some! Actually…there may be some of one in the box already that I have for you! LOL
After the last several weeks I’ve had – yesterday and today being among the worst – I really need something like this lil gem!
Merlot.
This IS Non-Alcoholic altho I think it would be fun to have it spiked! LOL
Regardless this is something REALLY REALLY REALLY Special!
It’s known for being their Velvety and Robust offering and I agree! It has a surprising velvety feel to it and it’s certainly robust! In addition…the Black Currant paired with the black tea base is genius! There is a little bit of licorice in there, too! At first I wasn’t sure how that would be…I was assuming it would be like many licorice flavored teas are but it’s completely different. It’s more of a natural flavor instead of artificial or candy-like, if you know what I mean. There are neat floral tastes thru-out and I can actually TASTE both the sweet and the dry – like you would taste in a wine…in a Merlot. It’s really wonderful, very creative, and beautifully done! This is excellent!!!!
Ooh this sounds interesting. Your posts on the vintage wines have had me intrigued already but this one might be something to really try :)
Someone on here was looking for the perfect grapefruit tea, but I can’t remember who…. maybe Alphakitty??
I don’t remember seeing anyone else looking for it… but it has been a quest of mine for the past few years… after visiting Arizona. It’s funny, but I actually found THE tea that the tea house used … the tea that I fell so much in love with, but I don’t know if it’s just the memory of the place or the water quality or any thing else… but, the tea tasted better in AZ than it did when I tried it at home.
But this … THIS tastes like the tea I remember… or at least, it evokes those same wonderful feelings that the tea in Arizona did. And really, that’s what it’s about, I think.
I was indeed looking for the perfect grapefruit tea! Definitely adding this to the list… probably far ahead of a few other orders I should make soon.
