Tea number three from my September Sips by.

Wasn’t too excited to see this one in my box, it has hibiscus in it which sort of makes it another iteration of the “mulled wine” tisane. The ginger is very strong and spicy, which makes sense given it’s the first ingredient. I do taste a little bit of elderberry I guess, but mostly it’s ginger and hibiscus with subtle dark berry and cinnamon notes.

I feel like I’m always disappointed in elderberry teas, because I can never actually taste the elderberry clearly. Maybe I should be on the lookout for a plain elderberry tisane ha ha…

Flavors: Berry, Cinnamon, Earthy, Ginger, Hibiscus, Jam, Spicy, Tart

The dried elderberries I get from my local natural food haunt aren’t tart at all. More raisin-y than anything.

Dried elderberries ideally need to be simmered for 15-30 minutes to extract their flavor.

Ooh that’s good to know!

This is a sick tea that I admit I wasn’t thrilled to see in my Sips by box. It was okay. A bit cooling, a bit of licorice. Basically what you’d expect from any old sick tea, but still weaker and not as tasty as some, if you can even say that about sick teas.
