Got a free sample of this with my last order. This was an enjoyable tea in the end. In the beginning it was somewhat bitter. It had a strong bitterness that lasted a good eight steeps. After this a sweet note was able to emerge. I think you might even call that note apricots or stonefruits although I am undecided if it is that sweet. I gave this tea twelve steeps. As to qi, I’m not really sure. I seem to be relaxed but there was certainly no tea buzz from this one. It’s a definite maybe on the qi. Overall this was a good tea. The last few steeps tasted quite good. I gave it twelve in all.

I steeped this twelve times in a 150ml gaiwan with 7.3g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1min, 1.5 min, and 2 min. The leaves were not finished but I had had enough tea from this one. Plan to go drink something else.

This tea is quite good. It has a fair amount of fermentation flavor and virtually no bitterness. It had a nice sweet taste to it. There were some notes of chocolate in there and there were some fruity flavors. Overall this one was quite good. The fermentation taste was quite tolerable, not unpleasant like some ripe. Menghai Tea Factory did a good job on this one.

I steeped this ten times in a 100ml gaiwan with 8.4g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, and 1 min.

This is a tasty ripe puerh with a lot of fermentation flavor left. Despite this I didn’t notice any fishy taste or such flavors. The tea was fairly bittersweet at the start. The bitterness took a while to go away. I’d say six steeps before the bitterness disappeared. There was a bittersweet aftertaste as well. I did notice some notes of chocolate or cocoa in there as well as a slight fruity taste in the end. This was a medium priced tea, not real cheap, not real expensive. A good quality Dayi bing for sure.

I steeped this eight times in a 120ml gaiwan with 8.4g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, and 30 sec. The tea was still fairly dark at eight steeps. It was not played out. I’m sure I would have gotten another four or five steeps out of it with longer times.

This is another tasty ripe tea from Berylleb King Tea. Judging by the picture people have mistook this for a Golden Needle White Lotus, which it does look like. I think the quality level of this tea is up there with that tea. It was sweet from the beginning with a fair amount of fermentation flavor. I did develop some notes that you could call chocolate or cocoa and did develop a fruity note in later steeps. This tea is not quite as pricy as the Golden Needle White Lotus. Price wise it is a little less. It is also a little smaller being a 200g bing. Judging by the color of the tea in the steep twelve I would say this tea would easily go fifteen steeps or more. This is no cheap puerh.

I steeped this tea twelve times in a 60ml gaiwan with 4.2g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 min. If I wasn’t always watching my caffeine intake I would definitely give this one a few more steeps.

This is a very tasty ripe with a fair amount of fermentation flavor left. I’d say I noticed the fermentation flavor through the fourth steep. There were some notes of chocolate or cocoa, don’t know which is a better description. It had a sweet flavor from the beginning. It definitely developed a fruity flavor in later steeps. This was good puerh. One side note, I did in steeps one and two notice a slight sour taste but it was not prevalent. I steeped the hell out of this tea giving it twelve steeps and it would have gone a few more. However, I am eternally watching my caffeine and it is too late for more tea.

I steeped this tea twelve times in a 110ml Yixing Teapot with 8.5g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 min. The tea liquid was not very weak at twelve steeps. I’m sure it would have gone fourteen or more had I wanted to continue.
