I’ve brewed a cup of Peach Rooibos to drink while reading the day’s posts on Steepster. Yummy, but slightly flat tasting. The thermometer I use seems to have stopped rising past a certain point. Ugh. I need to get a new one now. I should probably get one that’s specifically for tea. I’ve been using an instant read meat thermometer.

Standard mug. 1.5 tsp tea. Water at a boil. 5 minutes.

Second brewing. 6 minutes.

I had another pot of Rishi Wuyi early this afternoon. Just as delicious as the two pots I had yesterday. I had hoped it would fortify me to make a large Target run. But alas, a poor sleep last night won out over leaving the house. I did triumph over two loads of laundry though and a nice bath.

This is the first and only so far oolong tea I’ve ever tried.

My local Earth Fare had several Rishi loose teas 50% off and this is one of the several I brought to try. I did not know if I would enjoy it at all. I haven’t been too fond of unflavored black teas so far and thought an oolong would taste similarly. To my surprise, I loved it. It rapidly became one of my favorite teas of the current batch in my apartment. I start drinking and before I know it I’ve consumed the whole pot already.

I’m about to drink a pot of the second brewing of this set of leaves.

I logged about the epiphany I had surrounding oolongs a while ago – they caught me off-guard too. They’re really quite amazing when you catch a good one. They’re also one of the few types of tea I’ve found that consistently evolve through steepings.

I haven’t tried this particular one yet, but enjoy your second steep!

I have found that all three steepings are quite drinkable. I’ve yet to try brewing a fourth. I do look forward to trying other oolongs in the future so I can see how they compare to this one and if I continue to enjoy them so much. Do you have any favorites that you recommend?

Husband and I shared a pot of this green tea with Chinese – Hot and Sour soup, Tangerine chicken, veggie Low Mein, and rice – for dinner tonight. We watched Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. PP was better than Grey’s this week. So glad Violet and baby didn’t die.

I made a second brewing that I’m drinking now as I balance my checkbook and pay my bills.

The tea is light and only faintly lemony. The first brewing was for 1 minute and the second one for nearly 3 minutes. About 180 degree water. 3 cup pot, 3 tsp of tea.

Tea Fail

I made a cup of Turkish Apple Tea before bed last night when my husband got home. We sat down to watch a show off the DVR (Mercy – blek). My husband kept giving me pieces of the Runts candy he was eating. After we were done watching the show, he points to my cup of tea and says why didn’t you drink that?. Tea cold. Bedtime.

I’m 33 years old, studying pharmacy, and have a surly cat named Bin. I love tea, coffee, beer, wine, and most things food and beverage related. I also love music, movies, reading, writing, and learning new things.

I’ve drank tea all my life but about five to six years ago, my close friend Spautz got into tea and got me more into tea. I drink black teas and tisanes/herbals most. Since receiving a variable temperature kettle from my parents for Xmas this past year, I’ve been drinking more greens, oolongs, and whites. I’m very very new to puerh. That is, I’ve had only one.
