94 Tasting Notes
Ughhh why did I steep this?
I bought this because when I asked the tea guide if they had nettle teas, she pulled this one out. I impulsively bought a cup right there and also bought 10g, because if it’s got nettle in it, it’s got to be awesome, right?
Nope. When I was sipping from my to-go cup, a guy walked by me wearing cheap cologne and I was like CRAP. That’s what this reminded me of. I am not a fan of floral teas for the most part, minus maybe chamomile and good rose blends, and this is floral in the worst possible way. I should have done more than just a quick sniff of the blend before buying. I can’t taste the nettle because the floral is so overpowering. Maybe the scoop I got just had no nettle in it or something. And I usually looove cinnamon, too, but it really does not help this tea at all. Disappointing. :(
It really does smell like cheap cologne as it’s steeping. There’s something in the dry aroma that I can’t put my finger on that I dislike. I did not steep this one for long at home, thinking that would help. It didn’t. I will be surprised if I don’t dump this cup I’ve just brewed after one sip. Sigh.
Meh. The taste is pretty bland compared to how awesome a ginger peach tea could be, even a bagged one. When I drink a ginger tea I want it to be more in-my-face than this. The peach flavouring was just average. Nothing really exciting or new here. Buying a box of this + a box of Earth Teaze’s peach tea kinda turned me off of the flavour for a while.
Mmm! This tea reminds me why I love good peach teas. I was looking for a nice, soothing tea because I had cramps on a long 9 hr car trip. This tea did the trick!! I am not the biggest fan of chamomile but this tea had just the right amount of it. The entire tea was bold but not in an unpleasant way, and the flavours complimented each other well! Plus, it smelled delicious. It may even get me into a Teavana store to buy some.
This is absolutely average tea but at it’s an old reliable, I guess. There’s nothing really to describe because I think most people have had a plain ol’ Orange Pekoe before. I think their “steeped tea” is this tea, too. Regardless of the quality, there’s something comforting about a warm cup of Timmie’s in your hands. It just makes everything better.
The smell of this is SO GOOD. It reminds me of some baked good I can’t quite place. Definitely one of the best smelling David’s Teas I’ve had so far. Watching it steep was like watching a little tiny universe in my cup with all the glitter! The only part I didn’t like was the gold bits breaking because they kind of looked like a gold chocolate wrapper in my tea.
The taste instantly reminded me of Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice, which was totally welcomed! This one is a little weaker, though… a huge benefit to Bengal Spice is how I can steep it more to make it really strong. I’ll try that with this one too but I don’t think it’ll work. But I read the ingredients and there was no cinnamon listed, which is kind of odd… I’m usually not too concerned about the artificial flavouring but that did weird me out a bit. It’s such a comforting taste and aroma that I’ll still drink it though. It reminds me of Santa’s Secret, which is my reigning favourite. The cloves make it smell & taste pretty Christmas-y, so I think I’ll only pick up another bag at Christmas-time (to make it more special). It reminds me of Christmas so much it feels a little out of place drinking it in March!

Preparation
So, I tried this on vacation in South Carolina, where I was annoyed that I didn’t bring enough good tea with me. Instead of Higgins & Burke at McDonald’s on the way down, there was…. a nondescript tea bag from storage that they had to go searching for. So I was really excited to see some actual tea in a cafe across the road from where we were staying. I hummed and hawed before choosing this one and I think I made the wrong choice. :(
The smell reminded me of oranges and cloves at Christmas, which I really liked. The taste was underwhelming. They really took the “spice” part of the title too far. I was expecting more of a citrus flavour. I sipped on this while playing mini-putt, which was a pain because I had to put it on the ground or make my fiancé hold it at every hole, but the bigger disappointment was that I had to walk thru the mini putt office to go to the course and the office had oodles of birds shitting oodles of bird poop in it. The smell was terrible, and as a kid I had a thing where I thought smells would go into my drink or food and I’d be totally put off. That nearly happened. I put on my big girl pants and sipped 1/3 of it, it but when the lovely course owner offered us another round on the house, I had to pitch my tea. Not only was it a nuisance to hold, but it was totally blah, and I didn’t like the spices.

Oh, birthday cake. I initially gave you an 80 rating. I loved you as an occasional dessert tea until last night, when I left you to cool while I was folding laundry and came back to a gross white ring around the surface of my cup. I took a sip anyway, because you smelled so great, but I was hit with an oily/salty combination that was so, so gross. I woke up today, had another tea, and I STILL cannot get that disgusting taste out of my head. I think it may just be because I forgot and let my cup of tea cool completely, so the ice cream bits or something congealed… tea should not clump up like that on the sides. I want to hope it was just a soapy mug or something but I don’t think that was the case. It was nasty. I will be adventurous and finish my bag, but I will NOT let it cool as much and I won’t be buying a tin any time soon.
Mmm! Lovely. I drank this as a hot tea and the aroma was bold and sweet but not overpowering. Tastes vaguely like a peach tea, but in my opinion it’s much better – more flavours going on. My fiancé is NOT a tea person and he even agreed it was yummy and had more than one sip. I was shocked!
