83 Tasting Notes
This tea is pretty nice. I’m just getting the idea of both dessert teas and chocolate teas. I like this tea, and it reminds me of the chocolate rooibos in the November select box. I think I prefer the flavor of the rooibos and that it is caffeine free.
I wouldn’t say the chocolate flavor is mind blowing, and I haven’t tried this tea yet without splenda, but it does re-steep pretty well, and I haven’t been paying attention to how long I’ve been steeping it. It’s too bad this comes in such a small size. I would probably consider buying it. The sprinkles make it cute.
I’m still having problems reviewing teas. Apparently even when you delete a tasting note before it’s posted, the website thinks you posted it anyway. I hope I don’t have empty or half written tasting notes floating around.
Anyway, I really like this. I think I’ll have to add it to my list of teas to buy from Lupicia whenever I do buy teas from them. Is there sencha in this tea? I like that this has a balanced flavor. It kind of reminds me of Itoen teas, but with a more nutty flavor kind of like toasted sesame. It resteeps well.
Got this from Carol Who. It’s pretty good. I don’t have many Oolongs, but I think this is a pretty good middle ground. Unsweetened, you can taste a hint of the maple nut flavor. I added a packet of truvia, and it brought out more of the maple flavor. Truvia may not have been the best sweetener for this tea, but it’s good. I just can’t tell if the altered flavors are just flavors that the sweetener enhanced. The maple is somewhere between pancake syrup and the flavor of the french toast cereal that you could get in the 90s.
I don’t drink many dessert teas, but this one seems nice.
I still don’t know much about green teas. I have some trouble telling if it’s brewed until after taking the tea out. It smells mostly like green tea. I brewed it at 212ºF, which seems hot for a green tea, but only for two minutes, so it’s not bitter. There’s a nutty taste in the background, and it the green tea has a subtle flavor without any of the spinach taste. It kind of has this back of the mouth taste like slightly burnt popcorn. It could be good iced. I received a sample of this from Carol Who. I think this was one of the better green teas that I’ve tried so far. I would buy this.

Preparation
I received a sample of this from Carol Who. I do like vanilla tea, but this is the first time I’ve tried Guayusa. I thought it was a black tea before I brewed it, but now it looks like a dark herbal tea and smells like mint and vanilla. It also tastes like a mint tea. It has more of a plant taste than mint tea, but not much more. The vanilla is more subtle than I would like, but it is good. I doubt I would buy this, but it’s good. I don’t know if I like the idea of a tea that tastes like mint containing caffeine, though… I would only drink this as an alternative to a tea with caffeine, so that makes this tea a bit more impractical.
Flavors: Mint, Vanilla
I’ve loved the concept of this tea since the first time I set eyes on it. I guess that’s no surprise… I’ve felt like a kid staring into a toy shop and Second Breakfast was that special toy that I wanted for Christmas, but I never actually bought it for myself. Shame on me. But luckily I received several samples of Whispering Pines tea from the best people ever, and I got this tea. I was super excited. Best. Day. Ever. So, I actually waited to try this. I drank it Christmas Day. Happy Christmas to me.
This is another Chinese Black tea. I don’t know much about them, but I have noticed that there is a huge difference between Chinese teas and the traditional Indian teas that we drink every day. Something almost mysterious that I can’t ever describe. But anyway, I would say this was similar to the Mountain Nectar that I tried previously, yet milder. I don’t know if I used enough tea, but I steeped it twice. It’s very mild and not very bitter – but I might need to drink some more, because it hasn’t left much of an impression on me… I was very distracted yesterday, though. That might have been the problem. I could… drink the last of the sample that NayLinn sent me… I do think my favorite so far out of the three teas that I’ve tried is the Jabberwocky. That kind of surprised me.
It takes me back to that primary school apple experiment where we stated which of the three generic apples were our favorite than picked after a blind taste test. Just so you know, I knew exactly which apple was my favorite. Granny Smith outshines Golden and Red every time for it’s tart flesh and tangy skin. Red always has a bitter skin and Golden Delicious is more like overly sweet wood pulp. Sorry, that was quite a tangent… But the point was that I was certain that Second Breakfast would be my favorite, and it wasn’t. It was the Jabberwocky tea! So I’ll have to buy this one too.
P.S. I drink Whispering Pines tea now. Whispering Pines tea is cool.
P. P. S. Even though I think fandom teas at Adagio are super cool, I could never see Second Breakfast as anything other than a Whispering Pines tea. Second Breakfast and Whispering Pines is my OTP (Original Tea Pairing). I need to stop.
I came so close to trying this tonight in an order, but am low on funds so could only choose one – went with Northwinds instead
That sounds good too. I think the next time I buy tea, I’ll have to indulge and buy several teas from Whispering Pines.
This tea smells so perfect, like honeysuckle. I can’t wait to drink it. I received this sample from Flyawaybirdie – thanks so much :)- but I haven’t drunk any jasmine teas in a while. I thought I wanted black tea, but now that I’ve brewed this green tea, I don’t know why I actually waited so long to drink it. Jasmine green tea is one of my favorites.
I might have brewed this a bit too much. It seems to get bitter easier than dragon pearls. I don’t make the tea often, but I do know that adding a bit of brown sugar and milk makes it taste amazing. A tea shop would use it for their bubble tea, and you could also get it iced.
I put some milk in it… nope, bad idea. I guess I’ll still drink it. It’s a pretty good tea. I haven’t bought any jasmine green teas yet, simply because I feel like jasmine pearls accomplish the same thing. I like this enough, though. I don’t know if I would buy it, but if I did have it, then I would definitely share it with friends. I think it’s a much more palatable tea for those just trying tea for the first time, especially green tea.
I think I’ll make some more.
Flavors: Floral, Jasmine
This tea smells like tootsie rolls, though sweeter. The vanilla and the sweetness of the rooibos are more obvious. It doesn’t become bitter from overbrewing, and has a natural sweetness that tastes even better with the addition of sugar/honey/stevia. It tastes like it smells, both dry and brewed. It was very mellow and I could see myself drinking this at night. I drank this last night, but I think I’ll make some more tonight. I really should consider buying flavored rooibos teas.
Flavors: Chocolate, Honey, Vanilla
As I had said in my last review, I decided to brew this again. I used a bit more than a teaspoon, but I might need to consider using more. It tastes alright, but I probably would have preferred the vanilla. It’s alright as a tea, but probably makes a better base tea. I’ll probably continue to add rose to it.
This tea smells delicious. Not exactly like gingerbread cookies, but sweeter. It smells like ginger and vanilla and really sweet. (I dropped the bag and spilled some…) Before I forget, I want to thank Naylynn for this sample.
I ended up letting it steep too long. I guess 7 minutes isn’t too bad for a chai tea, though… It still smells just as sweet. I want to try it first without anything added, but I might add stevia after. I still haven’t figured out the best milk:tea ratio, so I don’t thing I’ll add it this time.
The tea is mild, but in a good way. Rooibos can have an odd aftertaste that I can’t quite describe, but this is very mellow. I prefer a ginger tea to punch me in the face. This is more like a gentle breeze. It tastes good sweetened. It’s pleasant and would be great for dessert cravings and for drinking tea late at night.
I only brewed this tea at 195ºF, but it doesn’t get bitter from oversteeping, I’ll need to consider buying this if I want some sweeter teas.
