I received a sample of this from MzPriss Thank you so much for including some of this very rare tea.

I am going to wait to write about this one until my next cup. I had a start of a nasty cold with my first tasting. I knew I should have waited, but I was so excited to try this tea that I went for it anyway. All teas that I did that day seemed off so I hope this one was included in that list.

drank Kenyan Earl Grey by JusTea

I received this from BrewTEAllySweet in a tea stash sale. Thank – you.

I like earl grey and I have really enjoyed trying different earl grey’s with different bases. It is interesting to me how the base can change the taste of the bergamont. I have never had a Kenyan tea so I do not know the characteristics of the base. This was a smooth base, but the taste was a little different. The bergamont was at the tail end of the sip and it was very light. I had the thought that I was sipping spagettii when I was drinking this tea. The base just had an odd smell. For me this tea is a no. There was something about it that just wasn’t my cup of tea. I am glad for the opportunity to try this one.

This is another awesome sample from DeleriumFrogs. Thank you!

Lemon yummy! This is a very tasty lemon tea. It has the spark of lemon, but the brightness of the lemon is mellowed out a bit by the vanilla/cake-ish flavor. I enjoyed this more as it cooled a little. I even added a tad splash of milk to it too. What a delicious afternoon tea. Thank you for sharing this one with me!

I received a sample of this from DeleriumFrogs. Thank you!

This one has had tons of positive reviews so on the wishlist it sat. I caved and tried this at the office today. Withe the fancy teas like this I usually try to wait until I am at home with more control over the parameters. I wish I would have waited. I am not going to say too much about this quite yet. I got the coconut out of this, but something hit me a little off. I am glad there is one more cup to give this another go. I mean it has PTA as a base how could it be anything but awesome?

EDIT: I did retry this one at home and unfortunately I believe the coconut is just messing things up for me. I had hoped to love this one, but I guess you can’t love them all. I am glad I got to try it, but this is just not my cup of tea.

Suziqzer

I like to try new things at home too when I can so I have more time to focus and enjoy them. Hopefully your next cup will be awesomeness!

I didn’t love this as much as everyone else but I have to give it another chance

drank Gong Fu Black by Zhi Tea

I received this in a wonderful swap package from MzPriss! Thank you!

This has been on my wish list for a bit. I have seen it being traded in the swap thread a few times and this really peaked my curiosity. This is amazing tonight. Sweet malty, cocoa. There is none of the “meaty” taste I sometimes get. It is smooth with absolutely no astringency. The perfect dessert to end a stressful day! This tea hit me so that I went and immediately looked at shipping and the cost to get an endless supply, but for now I will just have to keep it on the wish list. Thanks again MzPriss!

MzPriss

You are so welcome! I’m glad you like it. I keep this one on hand cause I love it and its easy to obtain as Zhi is here in Austin.

A huge thanks to Angel at Teavivre for this generous sample!

This is the flavored version of the milk oolong. I have had a few flavored milk oolongs and every time I drink them I wonder what the actual flavor is because nothing about the milky creaminess seems to be actually enhanced relative to regular milk oolongs. I wonder if the flavored milk oolong are a regular green oolong with milk flavor and the milk oolong are a oolong picked at the right time to be a milk oolong? I need to do some reading and educate myself on the difference.

I get the buttery, I get the creamy, I get the sweetness out of this version. I also get a strong green oolong vegetal taste. I do not get the bitterness that I seem to associate with Jin Xuan. This is a very decent cup. Comparatively I am not sure I can compare to the other two unflavored oolongs, but since it is flavored this would probably be my last pick between the 3. When I place my order with Teavivre I will definitely try the unflavored to compare. Thank you again for allowing me to try this tea!

MzPriss

Hey Tiff – I have a couple of samples of the Zhi milk oolong, Golden Lily. I would be happy to send you if you would like to try it.

TeaVivre

This Flavored Jin Xuan Oolong Tea is produced by adding edible flavoring to accentuate the milk flavor. So the milk aroma of this Flavored Taiwan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong is stronger. It is better for people who like strong milk fragrance. However, the unflavored is special and unique because its milky aroma is natural, it is not manually added milk when process as other milk teas.

drank Milk Oolong by Mandala Tea

The long awaited Mandala Milk Oolong. I should have tried all of the milk oolongs on separate days and then compared them, but such is life. I will have to write about this tea on its own another day. Comparatively this comes in second to the Gong Fu Tea Milk Oolong. It is creamy it is buttery, but there is more of a vegetal, orchard flavor that takes away a bit from the creamy sweetness of the tea relative to the other. I like it, and I think I will have to spend more time with it, but not my top pick.

Amazing! That really is all I have to say about this tea. I am trying all 3 milk oolongs that I own and I wanted to drink this one first since it was my first love. It is just as wonderful as I remember. Sweet, buttery, and a slight slight vegetal taste. This time I am getting a hint of coconut as well. The next 2 milk oolongs are going to have to bring their “A” game.

TheTeaFairy

Haha! Pressure, pressure!

Cheri

I’m looking for a really good milk oolong. May have to see if I can find a sample of this one to try.

TeaTiff

I can send you a sample of this one and mandala. I will send you a pm.

Cheri

Wow, thanks!

DeleriumFrogs sent this to me in a tea swap. Thank you! I received about a dozen mystery teas and every one of them looks so amazing it was hard t pick out which one to try first.

Being morning and needing a good cup to get going, this one won the battle. I have had this once before, but this cup confirms my thoughts about this tea last time. The cup I had before had taken on flavor from the packaging. I am really glad I get to give it another go. This is bold, smooth and malty. This one doesn’t have much sweetness to it. A good morning cup.

EDIT: This tea resteeped so well. I finally get why everyone loves this tea. I might just have to get a tin of this someday. Or maybe share a tin.

Bio

I started drinking tea while on a 4 month long cycling trip through South America. It seemed to always be a great way to warm up when I was cold and it was always available everywhere. Mate was the big tea of choice down there and it was also a great way to get to know people. When I returned home, my sister introduced me to Teavana and this launched me into the realm of loose leaf tea.
