16 Tasting Notes
A very strong intense smell and flavor can be found here that totally reminds of yellow stonefruit and it’s kernels. It’s still young and some green flavor combined with some green bitterness is still left, waiting for it’s transformation in a few months. The very pale and bright yellow colour are related to that. The flavour is very fruity, like peach or apricots. It’s very different from other shengs.
It leaves a pleasant and rounded mouthfeel after sipping and the young qi plays with your head and jumps like a small kid.
facts: a very nice impression here of fruit and energy.
Flavors: Apricot, Fruity, Grass, Mango, Peach, Stonefruit
Preparation
i got some 50g sample from GTG last year when the infusion was still yellow/orange and very fruity. i didn’t notice any bitter notes, it just tasted like pure gummy bear.
that’s when i ordered a full cake from YS that just arrived (early 2018).
i realize the cake from YS has aged faster than from the storage of GTG.
Colors of the brew are now pure orange, and slight aged notes already come out and make it taste a bit like earthy ground ginger powder.
after a few steeps the fruity and fresh aroma still comes out again and makes it a very recommended sheng right now (jan 2018).
i am already excited about the 2018 han gu di YS cake as the 2017 tasted a bit different but has quite the quality and fruity notes to it again.
part of the leaves are HUGE. and by that i mean among if not THE largest leaves i ever saw in Sheng Puer.
for me it was the best out of 10 sheng samples from GTG and that’s why i give it a score of 90.
Flavors: Apple, Ginger, Guava, Mango, Wet wood
Preparation
i really enjoy William’s teas, but i can’t say i really like this one.
it has no negative issues like bitterness or smoke or harsh aroma.
but the positive effects are near to none also.
the aroma is only slightly there, like when you want a hot shower and you get lukewarm water or you need a strong beam in the shower but only get a third of the pressure.
yes, it’s autumn, and of course it’s not that powerful, but this one combines the lesser autumn power with a lukewarm aroma.
the aroma itself has no interesting tones for me while the ones it has are rather good than bad ones, but they are so powerless.
the price for it is very low, like 10 euro/100g, so the price is ok, but you have to ask yourself the question: would you want a great tea for an appropriate amount or a tea that has near to no power and near to no intense aromas for for less money.
maybe it’s because the bushes are young and it’s autumn..
maybe some people might enjoy it nonetheless, but for me it’s between :/ and :), and that’s just 50 points here. i add 10 points for quality and rather good than bad aroma, but i can’t really give it a full 67 smiley face. sorry.
aroma is like: sheng, mild, slightly sour, slightly autumnal sweet fruity
intensity starts slowly (first steep is watery) but you can get quite a lot of steeps from it.

well.. regarding this tea is a sheng picked in 2012 and already 5 years old i can’t review the fresh taste of it, i bought it about 2 years ago in 2015 and the taste was near to none with a high caffeine effect to it.

Flavors: Artichoke, Bamboo
Preparation
well… let’s say although this tea really reminds me of good uji matcha, it also reminds me of very bad and low quality green tea.
that mixed together in fannings and dust and you get eden organic sencha.
it’s cheap and i really can’t recommend buying this.
not much of a chi here and a rather unpleasant feeling in my head towards headaches with 2 steeps of 75 °C and 20seconds.
it might have some good quality leaves in there, but it can’t keep up the mixture when there is low quality dust in there too that makes the tea rather brown than green and throws out a lot of tannins early.
but hey.. according to the company’s website it’s gluten and wheat free. wow!
Flavors: Hay, Umami
Preparation
what a great tea!!
a very good yunnan black with big and whole loose leafs (according to the main reseller from 300-500 year old wild arbor trees in yunnan!) and golden tips, perfectly oxidized, no hashness or bitterness, intense fruity alcoholic plum like smell and a mildly spicy calming whole aromatic flavor.
it has all it needs to be a good yunnan black tea, all packed into a mild aromatic flavour cloud without beeing too intense in flavor like DJ or too mild.
i really recommend you to try it as it is very balanced and has a good cha qi after the third brew.
i recommend 80°C, first steep 20 seconds, second steep 10 seconds, third steep 20 seconds. fourth can be done with 30 seconds, but is not really needed for the best chi effect.
you don’t often get a tea with this intense plum, raisin alcohol flavor while beeing malty and dusty, earthy like a very good ripened pu erh.
Flavors: Alcohol, Dust, Earth, Fruity, Malt, Plum, Raisins, Spices
Preparation
typical dayi sheng flavor: floral incense, fruity, aromatic, harmonic
astringency is there but not disturbing, blends well with the fruity aroma.
i really recommend it, tastes different to other dayi raw, but still typical dayi.
Flavors: Astringent, Floral, Fruity, Hay, Sweet
Preparation
taste is: old. :D
like a mix of 7262, 8592 and 7232.
very earthy and dusty in the beginning like a 7262, with a mild 7232/7242 floral taste with light astringency later, at all times creamy, slight sweetness and lots of aroma.
20 steeps at least.
good aroma, but heavy and old.
would i recommend ? yes!
would i buy again for enjoyment ? no :D
