49 Tasting Notes
Ever since my first Chai Latte at Starbucks I have searched far and wide for something comparable. Finally, I have found it. Its not too spicy, or to overwhelmingly cinnamony like the Pure Chai. And its sweet enough on its own that I don’t have to add anything to it. My only gripe is there could be a tiny bit more spice to it. I do like me a spicy Chai…
Hooo… sweet baby Jesus! Now I remember why I buried you in my cupboard, Licorice Twist.
Dry smell? Could almost pass for green licorice.
Steeping? Oh god it looks like grass, it smells like grass, it tastes like a freshly mown lawn (don’t ask how I know, xD) blended with what used to be mint in a past life. To top it off, its a bit spicy too.
Blech. This does not taste like licorice. Maybe licorice chopped up in a bowl of steaming hot water… with grass clippings?
I still have a semi-full tin of this from last October. Got some of it purely on the hype. However I have this weird…seasonal thing where I can only drink pumpkiny stuff in autumn, so I’ve not touched it since.
First try? I wasn’t thrilled, but.. in hindsight, I was prob’ly doin’ it wrong. >_> Its got loads of potential and I keep sniffing it everytime I rifle through the tea cupboard. Soon…
That said, it tastes like pumpkin. It smells like pumpkin and autumn and Halloween and weirdly enough that sweet smell of fallen leaves in the rain. Perfect for October. Mid-spring though? Hm…

Mama Owl found a recipe somewhere that DT posted for Pumpkin Chai. With much trepidation I followed. Turns out I’ve been doin’ it wrong this whole time. The flavour was too rich and I could never finish a full cup, but done indian style over the stove like a traditional chai? Topped with brown sugar and cream froth? Its like pumpkin pie. We have FOUND THE SECRET LADIES AND GENTS. Owlie can finally enjoy Pumpkin Chai. _ (Rating adjusted accordingly)
Egh. Got this as a latte once, and um..
Its not bad, but its not that…good…either. Like, not outstandingly good. It tastes so artificial to me, like tea flavoured like banana instead of tea with actual banana in it. Given a choice, I’d definitely take Copabanana over this, but if I were stranded on a deserted island and this was the only banana tea there, I’d settle.
Creamy, minty, christmasy. I think this was in the massive tea package I sent to my friend, not sure. Either way, I’m not too worried about losing it. Reminded me of Read My Lips, only a bit…sweeter. Perhaps too sweet for me. I’ll probably pick up some more around christmas next year, although I might forgo that, especially if Cookie Dough comes back next year.
Come back Honeydew Mate!
I’d never tried any mate before and only got a little 25g pouch. Wasn’t completely sold on it t first, but it grew on me. While rummaging through my tea cupboard, trying to find teas I needed to finish up, I came upon my little bag of Honeydew Mate. In the spirit of summer I tried it iced, and promptly died a little inside.
Please come back…you’re delicious :(
I want to give this a higher rating. I really really do… but.
Sigh.
First tried this when it camr out as a ToTM last year. Blueberry Lattes? Yes please. However when it came to refilling the tin.., or even having a cup the week after? Something…went wrong. I dunno if its jsut me but this is a really tempermental one for me. Can never seem to steep it just right enough to get that magical blueberry flavour without the stevia or bitterness. Like, its still good but, it could be better. A shame, because done right, this tea can be magnificent. :(

No folks, that isn’t Owlie getting trigger-happy with the rating slider. This the real deal. Why I waited so long to try it, I have no idea. Its delicious hot, and absolutely amazing iced. A few drops of agave, on ice… perfecttt…. What is it with me and these herbal fruit blends lately?
My only peeve is it would be even better with a bit of banana…
On a roll lately. Really surprised I even like this one. Tried this one as a sample iced in store, the girl working there suggested that it might be better hot. Turns out she was right, while delicious iced, I’ve taken to having it hot. But thats not why I’m surprised I like this tea… I do not like rooibos that much. There is rooibos in this tea. Somehow, that slipped my notice in reading the ingredients – I thought Mint Julep was a black tea only.
