I was in Chicago over Fourth of July and saw a TeaGschwendner shop while my mom and I were on our way to a party and of course I stopped :-). (Okay, I squealed “TEA!” and made two u-turns and went around the block twice to get back to the shop and find parking. Whatever. :-)) I bought O’Sullivan’s Favorite as well as a couple of others. I was a little surprised by the look of the tea, it looks like the tea leaves have been oxidized to death, leaving behind what almost looks like coffee grounds. And, as a matter of fact, I would totally recommend this boldly flavored tea to anyone trying to kick the coffee habit and I plan to get several coffee drinking friends to try this tea!
As I said, this is a boldly flavored tea that’s very strong. I loved the dark burgandy color of the tea at full steep, as a matter of fact, this tea greatly resembles the liqueur in color. This tea is a lot stronger than my normal Earl Grey’s and herbals, so I had to add sugar and some milk to fully enjoy it. Once I tried it hot and discovered how strong it was, I made it in the afternoon as an iced tea. Love it iced! The rich bold flavor gave me a very hardy tea that held up to ice and was completely refreshing during the hot and humid days we’re having around here. I’m definitely going to order more!
