11 Tasting Notes
What a tea! I love Japanese greens. I have had a little trouble getting into them at first, and looking back on it, this is what I would recommend to people who say “I don’t like Japanese greens, they have too much of that iodine flavour!”
This is buttery, this is smooth. This is much less astringent than other Senchas. This just very well may be my new favourite green.
Flavors: Butter, Marine, Umami

Had a cup of this for breakfast. Deep, dark flavor. I really enjoy this. It has this slight bitterness (not from oversteeping, just from the tea’s flavor) that is really enjoyable. Complex, strong, flavourful. I recommend this tea if you like strong black teas, that is.
Preparation
Fortnum & Mason have very strong blends in my opinion, typicals from what I imagine an English tea base is…perfect to add a dash of milk. I drink all my teas without milk but I am not able to do so with some of the F&M ’s blends :(
This tea…
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this tea. I can’t help but compare it to Marco Polo by Mariage in terms of intensity of flavours. (Not similarity of flavours though, they are totally different). And I always reach the same conclusion: IT’s just not as flavourful as Marco Polo. However, I still love it.
The vanilla is a little underwhelming, you can’t really taste it very much, even though it is advertised as a “vanilla flavoured tea”. You can definitely tell it’s there, it just isn’t extremely pronounced. Seems like a twist on the traditional Earl Grey more than anything. Definitely a good tea, just a little underwhelming compared to how it is advertised.
Flavors: Citrus, Vanilla
Preparation
you may give it another try at 5 minutes steeping. From my experience with this tea at 5 minutes the aromas are really there and we still can taste the tea base.
My first Oolong! Also, my first gong fu experience. I really enjoyed the experience. The tea has a very floral taste, very light. Extremely flavourful. I am just venturing into the world of Oolongs, but let’s say that if they are all at least as good, I’m pretty sure I’m in for a great ride :)

One of the new things I’ve discovered recently. A black tea that closely resembles a green tea! You might ask: “Well then, why not just drink a green tea?”
And you’d be right to ask. But I shall answer! Because this is stil a black tea. It’s a very light black tea, granted, but it still is a black tea. With its distinctive taste, but they have this very special twist.
I recommend this. It’s a light tea, I think it will help me transition from green tea to black tea, and could not be happier about this.

I went into the Mariage Freres tea shop on Place de la Madeleine, in Paris. Being pretty new to tea, I asked the salesman for some help. He was really helpful and told me that the difference between Japanese and Chinese green teas were that Japanese teas had much more iodine flavor to them. After smelling different teas, I settled my mind on Fuji-Yama.
It tastes exactly as advertised. Really fresh, with an iodine flavor to it. Definitely a great green tea for me. It’s one of my go to’s when it comes to non-flavored green teas.
Flavors: Iodine
Preparation
A very sweet and spicy tea. Drank it now, but it feels more of a wintery tea, with those flavours. Not the perfect moment to drink it, but it was one great ride. Tasty, flavourful, great. Go for it!
Flavors: Cinnamon

I love yuzu. I really do. When I noticed Mariage Freres had a yuzu flavoured green tea, I just had to go for it. However, I remained a little disappointed. Sure, it’s good. Sure, it tastes of yuzu, but it’s just not that evocative for me. Would rather go for a non flavoured green tea like Fuji Yama for example. NOt bad, just not anything spectacular.
Flavors: Lemon Zest
