2059 Tasting Notes
This is one of the most popular teas while ordering at Czech restaurant. Unfortunately it is far from good.
It is what the name is – “black tea with lemon”. But Tea itself is cheap, bold, but not malty. It is just bitter something. Lemon? Well, it is there, though very weak taste of it.
I did not expected much (I expected at least Ahmad teas), and I was even more dissapointed. Hm. Need to fix my senses with better tea I guess.
Hmm.
Received from postcrossing again. Blackberry and pomergranate fruit tea. Interesting combination.
Brewed with boiling water, steeped for 5+ minutes. Watching Lego Movie during drinking.
This tea is as the movie. Colourful (deep red), crazy a bit (taste) and easy drinking (you do not have to think about it). It works quite well together, but hibiscus in is making it bit tart. I certainly notice more blackberry than pomergranate. But there is bit of both. Little sugar can make it wonderful drink for kids. I do not have kids and none were around while drinking it. But overall – it is nice one.
In Monday there is matching day for RedditGifts exchange and there is tea&coffee one. Do you guys take part? I even decided for whole world international. I will hit my head while sending it, but that’s life. Maybe I will get some great teas? Who knows.
Another thing, tomorrow to part-time job again. Inventory check. Quite far, but okay… I hope. So tomorrow only one tea for me.
Flavors: Blackberry
Preparation
I saw the RedditGifts Exchange. I’ve always been curious about them. Unfortunately with me having just bought a condo, I don’t have any tea budget so I can’t participate in something like that right now.
I would not rate, as I have no idea what I am doing. See for reference:

Exactly me. My first matcha. And I have it for long. Two years. All the time air-sealed.
Anyway, I tried to prepare it best as I can. It is old one (probably) so… okay – still tasty though. Grassy, vegetal, full of umami.
Nice surprise for me. It is drinkable. But probably not so good as new one. But when I do not know where I had put it. Before that I did not had a bowl. Before I did not had a matcha whisk.
Note: I have no idea how hot the water was – 70°C maybe? I guess so. I have no idea about how many powder I have used. Maybe 2 grams, or maybe 3?
Flavors: Cut Grass, Umami, Vegetal
I got this one from derk I suppose, from first swap? Thank you (or somebody else)
I needed something hot (and what else than tea), but it is already 11 pm. Why I am drinking so late you ask? Simple! I was drinking beer with my friend, had hamburgers in local restaurant (they were f*cking awesome) before, so I took something I do not have to rate (as I never rate pure chamomile teas).
The colour of the tea is not changing much. It is quite light, yellow, maybe rather green.
In taste? Common chamomile tea. Basic. Nothing extra, but as well nothing bad.
Preparation
My father received this tea in pharmacy as a gift. As I am that one, who “knows about tea” I was first one to drink it.
When opened the box, there was nothing in aroma. Really finely sealed bags, because nothing came out.
It contains white tea, aroma and sour cherry juice. Nothing more, nothing less.
I actually used almost boiling water, haven’t noticed they suggest lower temperature. Nevermind.
It is indeed not very aromatic tea. The white tea base is mellow and carefully selected. Of course it would not be top-notch white tea, but as a base it is way better than I expected. Then little sourness come, with cherry notes. Or rather sour cherry (třešeň x višeň in Czech). But it is not overpowering the base and it is not so strong to be annoying. Just accurate! How uncommon.
Flavors: Cherry, Cherry Blossom, Pleasantly Sour
Preparation
Okay, maybe it is really old tea bag.
Maybe it is just bad.
i still feel it in my throat. Which can be okay, unless it makes my stomach acid go up there.
The taste is just weird.I mean I expected lots of weird notes, but still somehow , this was worse. Overripe banana, yellow melon which is overriped too. No green tea notes as grassy notes, or freshly cut grass. Nothing of those.
As a smoothie it would be good. But as hot drink it just do not work. I can imagine people who do not like banana flavours in tea. I just hope it was one bad tea. But who knows?
Avoid and nah!
Flavors: Melon

Apparently I had four of those? Two I already drunk, one sent to California, and now… fourth? Weird. Creepy weird. And more over I have mess in my tea bags. We will find out later.
But this tea was not opened. Original foil wrapping. Really weird.
But that hopefully won’t change my taste buds. At least less than this cream vanilla yogurt I have for breakfast. While preparing this tea, my mother wanted a “very good” green tea. So I prepared her Touareg from DF. And thus – two sipdowns in one go.
It is like half an year ago. Mellow, bit of smokiness and cherries. It was great as last times. Sad to have it gone.
I have a tea bag from Izzy – thank you!
But I am pretty sure it is even available here, in the Czech Republic. At least I have seen few boxes from London Tea Company. I think it was in railway station in my University city.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Izzy’s rating. It is medicore Earl Grey blend (if even, because not sure about bergamot in). The base is quite well – could be better though and citrus notes are bit bland and boring. The tea was cloudy and very dark brown colour which was not very appealing too. Honestly I am not sure if it is bergamot flavoured, rather just lemon peels. And… it was bit bitter and biting, not very tasty.
Little extra points for being fairtrade, but I guess it is rather just a marketing. It was cheap tea I think. And flavourings of unknown origin and not described which flavours? Sad. Another extra point for cute bag. But that’s all.
Below average EG tea.
Flavors: Biting, Bitter, Lemon Zest

Hm, it seems I only sent you bad tasting tea! The next envelope I send will hopefully have something a bit better inside :) I almost have enough wrappers to send it.
Don’t worry Izzy. Maybe I am too affected by loose leaf I had recently and this one was just boring. Maybe I have just expected more, because majority of other reviews were positive. Maybe I had better EGs than this one.
At least I know I can avoid this one to get better. I will send something to you as well :)
I have a tea bag. I have no idea where I got it. From swap, from postcrossing or I bought it myself?
Anyway, caffeine-free tea for evening. Tomorrow another inventory check. Quite far (3 and half hours by bus).
Yep, just a rooibos. Nothing else, nothing more. Little extra points for being organic.
Do not expect much and you will be happy with this one. No bad notes, little honeyish taste, nice tea bag design.
Enjoyable :)
Preparation
This tea bag I got as thank you for postcard from postcrossing member. From Belarus.
“If you are helping somebody, you are awakening somebody.” – a quote on tag.
I had no idea what to expect, so I just put it into cup, filled with boiling water and enjoyed tea with soft baked cookies with blueberries and cranberries. And white chocolate. Cookies were very enjoable (well, they were bought in Lidl), not sweet as some others.
The tea was letdown though. I steeped it for quite long time, but it was far from great tea. I mean, no funky notes, but still bit – too mild? Yep, this blend of chai was very mild and sweet (Stevia leaf in). I blame the stevia for overpowering the stingy notes of ginger and cloves. It was too mild (although some chais are too spicy for me). Sad.
Maybe rooibos is as well to blame (as stevia) as it is not really good as base for chai. I expect some maltiness, but nothing of it was there, of course.
