4843 Tasting Notes
Yum! I’m having a cup of this yummy tea today. My oldest daughter is visiting and I like to prepare teas that I think she’ll enjoy when she comes over, because she is now getting in to tea. I think I’ve mentioned once or twice that she rebelled against tea for a long time since her mother has been something of a tea freak, but, she’s finally coming around and realizing that there’s a reason her mother likes this stuff!
So, this evening, I made some butterbeer. She’s a big fan of Harry Potter too, so I thought she’d dig this … and she does. Yummy!
Backlog:
I put off trying this a little while because I’m like that when it comes to pu-erh. It’s something that’s sort of a conditioned response for me. But I’m glad I finally got around to finally trying it.
Subdued earthy notes, sweet (like molasses) and smooth. A very nice, mellow tea.

Backlog:
The white tea that looks like a fruit tisane! It has so many huge chunks of fruit in it. This blend is sweet and very fruity … so much so that it is difficult to discern the delicate white tea base. I can taste it … but it’s not as front and center as I’d like it to be, or as I thought it should be.
Tasty enough, but certainly not the best that I’ve had from David’s.
Backlog:
A really delightful tea. A very autumnal fragrance to it – I smell notes of apple and caramel, mmm … caramel apples! When I tasted it, at first I wished I tasted more of a caramel apple taste. But there wasn’t much of an apple like flavor … but there was plenty of caramel sweetness!
Rich and robust. Notes of spice. A wonderful Kenyan tea.

Backlog:
This was really … a disappointing tisane for me. It was the first tisane from the Amoda box that I was truly disappointed by. It wasn’t terrible, but, there wasn’t anything that really stood out to me as spectacular either. It’s a light, thirst-quenching tisane, but it lacks something … something to make it special. In my tasting notes, I mentioned that it needed something like spearmint or peppermint or cinnamon or ginger. Just something to give it a little bit of zing. An extra dimension of flavor.
Alright … but nothing that I’d ever order again.
I have kind of had it with ‘tisanes’ herbal home remedy teas etc. I was part of this csa share from spring to fall and somehow missed it completely. and I am suffering from severe hair loss; not sure if of relating…I have experience a bad witches brew; jinx even and cannot get my life right. So one could say I am doing the blame game.
On a good note I did purchase from Walmart when last we were shopping there a package of Celestial Seasoning Herbal Tea Sampler; but this is not the homegrown weeds or such from one’s yard.
I guess I am saying if one is to choose between home grown ‘nettle tea’ ‘dandelion tisane’ oatstraw or mugwort and the likes; stick to a tried and true brand like Medicinal for Nettle or Dandelion teas.
Organic Goddess is unlike the Iron Goddess I supposed. ’-)
I received a sampling of this tisane from someone … and found it in my stash tonight. I don’t know how old it is … but judging from the existing tasting notes on this, it would seem it’s probably at least a year old. It’s still flavorful. I taste honeybush … nutty, sweet, honey-like. I taste caramel … sweet and the caramel adds a creamy element to the cup. The chocolate is weak. I don’t know if that’s because of the age of the sample or because the chocolate just wasn’t strong enough for my chocoholic tendencies. The flavor does build though, and now that I’m midway through the cup, I notice more chocolate than I did at the start.
Overall, it’s decent. Because it is an older sample … I’m not going to rate this.
Backlog:
I really like these green tea powder packets from ShiZen … it’s great for on the go. When we go for a road trip or something, I always put a few of these in my purse so that I can buy a bottle of water and have some green tea that doesn’t taste like the over-sweetened RTD teas that they sell at the convenience stores. With these, you just tear open the little pixie packet and pour the powder into the bottle and give it a really good shake, and wa-lah! Tea that tastes like tea not sugar.
Refreshing and invigorating.

A nice combination of flavors, although I can’t say that this is my favorite VIT from 52Teas. I like the way the pomegranate notes work with the Da Hong Pao, although Da Hong Pao has never really been a favorite of mine when it comes to an Oolong. I’d rather have an Ali Shan, thanks!
But even though it’s not my favorite (I guess they can’t all be my favorite, right?) it’s still an enjoyable tea and one I’m glad I tried. I do like the way the smoky notes meld with the pomegranate … a very interesting combination.
Not bad.
Backlog:
This tea is very autumnal to me. I taste apple and apricot – two flavors that make me think of late summer and early autumn, and the wine like notes work very well with these flavors. Hints of a rustic smoke-like tone.
The black tea is earthy and warm … and it complements the other flavors very well. A really enjoyable medley of flavors in one cup with this tea.
