This was my first time visiting a David’s Tea location, as they don’t yet have one in Wisconsin. I had a fantastic experience!
The shop is tucked into the quaint Downtown area of Naperville. It is quite small, but set up nicely. All the teas are on the back wall behind the counter, arranged and color-coded by type. The current holiday collection was out on the counter for customers to examine and smell. Gift sets and teaware are arranged along the opposite wall and there is a small seating area in the front of the store.
I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, glad to answer any questions or get teas down from the wall for me to smell before buying. The woman who waited on me patiently weighed out 1/2 ounce samples of all the teas I wanted to try. And when she found out I had a 2-hour drive home, she brewed up a cup of Chocolate Rocket for me for FREE!
I definitely recommend this location and hope it visit it again in the future.
As others have said, this store is set up nicely and has a great selection. Pretty much any tea that you can find on their website is sold in-store…even many of the fandom samplers of custom blends! I also appreciated the little smelling tins they had available for most teas.
However, I visited the store hoping to try samples of teas that aren’t offered in their pre-packaged sampler packs and was disappointed to find that all of their tea is sold pre-bagged in 2oz pouches. Although their prices are reasonable, I still don’t like to commit to that much of a tea I’ve never tasted. In the end, I left empty-handed.
This is a delightful little tea room! It’s small, but very quaint. The decor is cozy and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. And they sell some delicious custom tea blends!
I was back up in the Twin Cities this weekend celebrating the engagement of my former roommate. While I was there, I took the opportunity to visit Indigo Tea Company. Although I lived in the Twin Cities area for two years, I had never heard of this particular teashop until I joined Steepster.
It’s a cute little place that serves lots of delicious looking treats along with tea in a pot, mug, or to-go cup. They have a traditional Asian seating area up by the front window as well as tables and chairs.
They have a pretty impressive selection of loose leaf tea and I love the little sample tins that let you examine and smell each variety. The only thing I don’t like is that almost all of the tea comes pre-bagged in 4oz amounts. They will sell 1/2 a bag (though they charge a 25% “handling fee” to do so) and a few of the teas are available in 1oz sample sizes. But I wish they had the option to buy all of in smaller amounts; even 2oz is a lot to commit to, especially if it’s something you’ve never tried before!
The staff here are so friendly! And I love the way the store is set up. The teas are all out on display, sorted and color-coded by type. There are free samples all over the place and little tins of each tea that let you see what the leaf looks like and smell it before you buy.
Teavana is definitely over-priced and a lot of their teas have artificial flavors. However, I do like several of their tea offerings. And I really enjoy their rewards program and free in-store samples. The staff at this particular store are the best; so friendly and helpful! The always encourage me to choose the most expensive tea when selecting my free ounce reward and never push me to purchase anything I don’t want. I much prefer this Teavana location to the one at the Mall of America.
