239 Tasting Notes
Cup of morning assam.
This assam is less malty less body with more sweetness to it. Since i prefer powerful assams this was not what i would consider a breakfast tea. However it has a very pleasant taste.
A hint of spices, perhaps some citrus with a very slight astingancy.
Preparation
Ah, early morning cup of assam!
It has become somewhat of a habit drinking assam in the morning, especially after i drank the last of the New Vithankande. Will have to restock!
Anyways this tea is woody with some malt and a sweet honeylike finish. It does have a small bite of astringancy. All in all a good cup.
Finally made my first order of 2014 tea. First out was the springteas of yunnan from none other than yunnan sourcing. Will be interesting to try some new varietals and restock the favorites.
Flavors: Honey, Malt, Wood
Preparation
Been hectic as usual not much time for tea, at most a cup a day!
Oh well this time im taking some time to log a wonderful relaxing cuppa. :)
I am very very fond of the minty cinnamon flavour of japanese black teas and this one sure packs a punch. It is hsockful of flavour and high astringancy that perfectly balances the sweet. A hint of bitter cinnamon on the aftertaste and some fresh mint fills the whole mouth. Pure joy!

Preparation
Finally came around to trying out this cake. Been sitting i my cupboard for over a year ^^
But my tradition of sipping sheng whenver i watch the big bang theory is going strong!
I used 5.5grams in a 90ml celadon gaiwan.
wash/10s/15s/25s/30s/30s
Mild smoth start. This is a young sheng, still the flavour is very clean and has some complexity to it. Yet i found i have to steep it for 25-30s to get that small bite of bitter i enjoy with shengs. I might have to purchase an older sheng in the near future. I do love the insanely powerful shengs that just explodes with flavour! The ones where you can do multiple 10s steepings and no longer unless you want it very bitter.
Got my eyes on the 2002 Yong Pin Hao yiwu sheng. Tried a sample a while back and was impressed!
Another thought just struck me. Why dont i drink more sheng and good mao-cha. Everytime i do i think “wow this is good tea” I think the world of sheng will be my next project since i feel just about done exploring yunnan tea.
More assams, taiwan black tea, korean green and Sheng will be this years main attractions. Perhaps i will manage to get a hold of some japanese white as well!
I hope 2014 will be a good year for tea!
Preparation
Ah a nice cup of tea in the evening. Ah been to active this past week, hardly any time to just stop and relax. Today at last i have some time for myself :)
I decided to try one of the samples from teabox. The choice fell on an autumn blend.
Brewed in mumyoi pot.
Surprisingly sweet brew! hints of honey mixed with a very low astringancy for autumnflush darjeeling. The classic darjeeling flavour is present although not as prominent. Superb blend!
Im almost sure to grab a pouch of this. :)
Flavors: Honey
Preparation
This is a rather good darjeeling blend. Typical autumn flush flavour, clean and well balanced astrinancy. Considering the pricing of this tea its a darn steal :)
Would do nicely to use as a base for blends like earl grey perhaps?
Preparation
Wonderful as always.
Full of applepeel! Slight astringancy, clean complex well balanced flavour.
Ah, this was a nice finish after a hectic day. loads to do at work and a killer workout @ the gym ^^
Thank the heavens for tea.
Yesterday me and some friends had our dinnerclub where we take turns bi-weekly to invite each other for dinner. My friend treated us to some peppermint herbal tea picked from her garden. Reminded me of warm childhood memories. Must get peppermint!
Preparation
Today i opened up a bag of wonder. Also known as tea. :)
This tea caught my interest since its highly oxidized yet not roasted. Oolong-black :)
First inpression was how large the leaf is. The 30g filled a bag larger than most 100g teas comes in.
I have no idea of how to brew a tea like this, i thought i´d start out western style.
Kobiwako pot.

The liquid is light amber, golden. heavy scent of fruit, apricot.
First cup taste very much of apricot to me. Slight nuttiness, clean and even body without astringancy. There is a special taste on the aftertaste, almost like a hint of smokiness?
Second cup slightly stronger body and flavour.
This is very much a tea to my tastes, none of that buttery nuttyness of lowoxidized oolong but still very fruity since it hasnt been rosted. Wonderful!
Flavors: Apricot, Nuts
Preparation
Sipdown!
I´ve been dreading the day! All is gone, to maybe never return again!
Since it´s valentine and i´m single I thought i´d treat myself to something special :)

Still the best japanese black i´ve tried, full of cinnamon and minty aftertaste. almost no astringancy yet it manages a solid body with complex flavours dancing around in my mouth! I want MORE :)
Will be on the lookout!

I was single for a long time on Valentine’s day. I treated myself to flowers, good food & tea, etc. It was my mid thirties, & I learned to be my own best friend. Now that I’m in love again (for 13 or 14 years…I can’t remember how long, LOL), I’m still my own best friend. Tony is my other best friend :)
Be good to yourself!
