87 Tasting Notes
What is up with these Stash fruit/herbal blends? I received an herbal tea sampler and this is the second one I’ve tried that is weiiird (the first was the Wild Raspberry Hibiscus).
Specifically, I get this weird slippery mouthfeel/taste when I swallow them. If I keep the tea towards the front of my mouth, I don’t get a bad sensation. Odd—maybe it has something to do with the location/kind of taste buds in the back of my mouth?? I wanna say it’s the licorice powder, but I’ve never had such a bad reaction to licorice before. Maybe something about the formulation? Both Stash teas I have had problems with with contain: hibiscus flowers, orange peel, lemongrass, rosehips, licorice powder, and soy. I’ve had experience with all of these ingredients before (although not soy in tea), actually.
If it weren’t for that, this tea would be…okay, I guess. Can’t really imagine it without that weird mouthfeel.
I’ve had other licorice teas before, however, and it hasn’t affected me in the same way, so I’m not sure if that says something about Stash’s formulation or what.
I don’t like chamomile so much, so I’m happy that this doesn’t taste of chamomile. That being said, it’s nothing spectacular. It’s very sweet—the cinnamon isn’t very spicy, and the apple borders on fake-tasting. Not unpleasant to drink, but not something I would buy.
