Evening Lights - herb

Ozli was right. This is just an… odd/awful blend. She sent me two cups, but I don’t know if I’ll bother with the second one. Or finishing this one.

Too bad because the ingredients sound interesting.

Soooo, this is not a tea for me! Smells amazing (I love the SMELL of chamomile but rarely the taste), but the sweetness is like a punch in the face, augh, but then there’s a really lovely minty aftertaste! But you have to make it through the cloying sweetness first…

An interesting tisane with just a bit too much going on to be truly successful. I love a good herbal, and I appreciate what they were trying to do here, but every sip has several herbal flavors vying for attention. Each sip starts nice and ends nice, but there’s quite a bit of turmoil in the middle. I also wish there was a bit more rose to add some sweetness and round things out. I’m sure I’ll finish the packet eventually, but this won’t be my evening blend of choice.

I see I like this better than the others who did reviews. It’s not fabulous, but for me it was pretty darn good. The one flavor that stands out is the licorice. In fact, I think I ordered it because of that ingredient. (I’m a black licorice fan, but not a fanatic.) If I disliked licorice, I would say that it seems to overpower the other contents. However, in my opinion the other ingredients do a good job of cushioning the licorice, but you can’t escape the flavor. (I guess I would order this again.)

Interesting how so many reviewers found a prominent licorice taste to this tea. I made a cup for me + 1 for my husband (different leaves for each cup) and with each cup I found the foretaste to be mint, next- floral, then maybe a touch of licorice. Maybe it’s because I only steeped for 5 min? Either way this blend is decent and I’ll use it up pretty fast.

Another sample from evol ving ness this one isn’t as bad as others seem to think. The main problem is the abundance of licorice causing the sweetness to be a little overwhelming. there are other flavours here but the licorice sweetness buries a lot of it.

This was the other herbal I ordered for my nighttime beverage. I really don’t usually drink herbal tea but caffeine has been bothering me lately and I wanted something good for night. I got Detox Mountain Herb and this. Last night I said I couldn’t wait to try this one, and I didn’t. I went ahead and made a pot. And guess what? When you drink seven cups of herbal tea before bed, you DO fall asleep but you DO NOT stay asleep. You have to get up at approximately 3:00 am apparently. Well, that is what happened to me, anyway.

So…the tisane. I am I the minority. I liked this better than Detox MH. I really like the taste of licorice root and the sweet and unusual flavor it lends to tea, so I totally dug this blend. As happens with many teas, I tasted very little when it was super hot but after just a couple of minutes of cooling I could taste the herbs and really liked it. Wishing I had ordered two and two now instead of three (DMH) and just one bag of this.

Op, nope, not a fan. Licorice is all I taste. Very visually appealing blend, but just can’t get past the licorice. Not wanting to dumb the cup, I tried adding a heavy dose of Almond Joy coffee creamer. This did a good job masking the licorice through the front and middle of sip, and left a very mellow slight licorice taste at the end of the sip. While this made the cup drinkable, I don’t see myself making this again. If only I could pull the licorice out of the blend, because the rest sounds interesting. Also, I think I way over leafed this.

The raw blend smells minty and refreshing, very fresh and vibrant. It has a generic herbal scent in the background of the mint.

After the long 7 minute steep the tea is burnt orange in colour with a sweet yet herbal scent with mint being the dominating tone. I think I can smell the licorice in the background.

Flavour is more mild than the scent though the mint is easily recognisable so it’s a light medium strength overall (best way I can put it). I can taste the licorice which is not too bad (for someone who dislikes licorice in teas) it mostly blends into the refreshing after taste of the mint. Other than the mint and licorice there is a generic herbal flavour but it’s light and not as thick as most other herbal blends. Also has some natural sweetness.

I like this, I like herbal blends as long as they are not too thick or dry and the mint is a glorious touch in this one. Husband likes it too which says a lot since he isn’t a herbal tea fan. Perhaps a touch too much licorice for my taste but it’s a pleasant bed time tea non the less.
