Man Song 曼松 Village has a history of more than 300 years! It became known in the Yongzheng period as a source for top pu-erh tea and in 1735 tea from the original grove of trees in Man Song became tribute tea and was picked and consumed only by the Emperor and his court. It’s arguable that Man Song village tea is what put Yi Wu on the map and in the history books.
Like its neighbor Yi Bang, Man Song tea trees are a mixed-leaf varietal with an incredibly elegant and complex character. Balanced bitter and sweet, astringent and lubricating, and with a strong long lasting hui gan.
Our Man Song tea was plucked in mid-October from 40 to 100 year old tea trees. Although not from old tea trees, the environment is pure and bio-diverse. If you have never tried Man Song tea then you’ll find this is an excellent example of Man Song village tea.
