From Yunnan Sourcing

This rare and beautiful tea can only be made from early spring harvest is picked from established plantation bushes in the Mojiang area of Simao. The tea is carefully processed to keep its lovely appearance and guard its subtle sugarcane and malt flavors. This is an incredible and rare tea with an appearance and taste that will dazzle the drinker! Recommend using 85-90C water to brew this wonderful tea. Wash once briefly (5 seconds) and then drink the successive infusions. Keep infusion times very short initially!

I drank this all afternoon while I was practicing. I set up a little table next to my harp, with my new bamboo tea tray (from Mandala) & electric kettle, thus combining 2 of my 3 favorite things (Music & Tea. The third thing is food). I put 7g of leaf in my little 4oz blue lotus porcelain tea pot. The first steep was 15 sec, adding 15 sec to each subsequent steep. This went on for about 4 hours. Those leaves just kept giving, reminding me of bee pollen & cream.

mmmm thanks for sharing this one terri! I think that i’ll have to look into placing an order with yunnan sourcing in the new year. I’ve enjoyed the few that terri has shared with me so i think a few more samples are likely in order :)

All three steepings had an even taste. All full of cocoa and malt with a slight tinge of honey. This tea is so very very good. Must drink it all! mouahhaha! ;)
Just put my daughter to bed so now its safe to bring out the gong-fu table.

Yet another tea that Sil sent me, this time a black – had enough oolong for tonight. Thank you for sending this my way.

I don’t know what to say about this. I like it, I really like it, but I’m not sure why. In general I’m a fan of Yunnan black teas, and this is a pretty good one. It’s really Yunnany – ok that’s not a word, but what ever it is that I like about Yunnan teas – this one has lots of that. It’s almost yeasty, or bready, or something. Yeah a little honey, yeah a little malty, but lots of whatever that other thing is. Ultimately I guess it really doesn’t matter, but thumbs up – this is a good one.

this morning I am finishing off this sample I got from Terri

I just went to the Yunnan Sourcing website and I noticed they have some 2014 black and green teas in stock. I don’t know if I will be able to restrain myself in the near future but I should hold off for a while because I overspent the tea budget in the past few weeks.

This is a lovely lighter tea with notes of honey, apricots and malt. It ha a nice natural sweetness and needs no additions, it’s a delight to drink plain. Thanks again for this one Terri!

I tried this one yesterday as it seemed like the lightest tea in the BBBB and it was after 5pm. I enjoyed it. Didn’t love it. Most Yunnans are kind of just ok for me. It didn’t have the deepness that some of them (zhu rong) have, but it was still ok. I’ll try it gongfu next time and see if I can wrangle up some more complexity out of it. Thanks Terri Harplady!

Thick, malty with a bite but still smooth. Smells yeasty and bready. Onto the shopping list this goes! Thanks, Sil!

Finished this winter stash yesterday and I will have fond memories of this tea. It was my every day to get me through the snow and now spring beckons. Today I’m having a tea given to me by a shop owner in Flushing. All I know is its a black Formosa but doesn’t rival my Mojiang.
