From Verdant Tea

Crafted By Li Xiangxi

Li Xiangxi’s family works together in Tongmu applying their incredible skill at roasting to their spring-fed high mountain tea. Their proceeds go to teaching rural tea ceremony.

Jin Jun Mei Wuyi black tea is one of the most labor intensive and demanding teas to produce. Fine Jin Jun Mei is made exclusively from tiny spring buds, and requires thousands and thousands of hand-picked golden buds to make a single pound of finished tea. The result is a downy tea with a thick full texture, and a beautiful elegance. Li Xiangxi’s spring-fed tea grows out of rocky, sandy soil, yielding a rich mineral flavor true to Wuyishan’s unique terroir.

‘The pristine beauty of Wuyi, the biodiversity of the valleys, the sweetness of the water, the deep devotion of the farmers like Li Xiangxi and her family – for us, tea has always been about connecting with places, people, and history, but Wuyi is a life affirming confirmation of everything there is to love about the humble camellia sinensis plant.’

Sipdown 52

Spring 2021 Harvest

This was quite tasty! Very malty and chocolatey. An easy drinking black tea, and one I would consider purchasing.

From Shae, thanks for sharing!
Yum, this is chocolate malt in a cup, and very smooth. I started with 4 grams in 6 oz of water and am on steep number three right now. A nice bread, yeasty taste to this too. Way too easy to sip this down, its gone before you know it. I would certainly consider this one for purchase, but its been a long while since I’ve made a Verdant order.

I really liked this one too. One of my favorites, I think, from my last order.

2020 Harvest
Date of Picking: May 2020

I didn’t take many notes on this one as I was drinking it. Instead I wrote down some words as I made my way through the cup. The dry leaf had a chocolaty aroma, but the flavor was surprisingly fruity. I was able to narrow it down to berries and then strawberry and finally strawberry jam. That’s it – it tastes jammy! What a really delicious tea with so many layers. I’m sure those with a more refined palate could find so much more.
