The iconic Seeyok tea estate is located at a distance of 60 kms from Darjeeling town in the majestic valley of Mirik in north-east India. It is located at an altitude of 1100 to 1800 meters with a plantation area of 154 hectares. Established in 1869, Seeyok is among the finst organic gardens in Darjeeling and is popularly known for its spring and summer black teas.

Golden Tips TeaThis is actually ‘Seeyok Classic Autumn flush’ according to my package, but this seemed like the most likely place to review it. Also it doesn’t look like Vahdam carries the classic version any longer. It’s about time I started sipping this one down, darjeelings are not a favorite of mine so I tend not to reach for them too often . I don’t think I’ve had a bad darjeeling from Vahdam, and this one is okay. Its nutty to start and floral to end, a rather light cup but still enjoyable. As it cools, its becoming a bit more floral, but not cloying like some darjeelings taste to me. The second steep adds a bit of bitter dark chocolate aftertaste and is less floral. On the whole, its a nice cup of tea, I might add a bit of assam to my next brewing to make it a more interesting blend.

The tea writeup claims dark chocolate, but I am not quite able to target that flavour in my sips. Clearly, more practice with darjeelings is needed.
