A delightful organic Darjeeling from the 2013 first flush season, with characteristic muscatel flavor and fresh floral aroma. A lingering note is reminiscent of fresh grape juice.

Darjeeling and I just have not managed to become friends yet, but I keep trying to find one that I really enjoy and this one may be it. This had a much more gentle flavor that I currently associate with darjeelings, the last several I have tried have been a bit harsh and almost bitter. I suspect it may have been a much lower quality than this particular tea. I found this to be much more floral than I expected, it reminded me of some of the oolongs that I really enjoy.
Thanks for including this one in the TTB Dr Jim, this tea may just change my mind about darjeelings. I was giving up hope of finding one I enjoyed.

Floral with lingering notes of apricot, with a clean finish. There is a little more astringency than I was expecting, and definitely leaves a dry mouth feeling.
If I were going to make this again, I might even lower my temperature further to the 180-185 range.
Tea #5 From Another TTB and fourth darjeeling sampled this morning
This first flush darjeeling has much of the flavor characteristics as Giddapahar Musk from Thunderbolt teas, but they are not as pronounced. Namely the sparkling (and astringent) characteristic. The liquor is in between the colors of the other 1st and 2nd flush darjeelings that I brewed thismorning.
You might want to try brewing darjeelings lat lower temperatures. I have one that is quite astringent and lemony if brewed at boiling but has these lovely almond tones when brewed between 85-92*c. Lopchu is another one that can take the heat. But the, The estate grows mostly Yunnan varietal in a Darjeeling environment.

I’m becoming a real lover of Darjeelings. This tea is a first flush and they tend to be lighter and more floral than the second flushes. I have to admit I like a bit more oomph to my teas, and prefer the second flush, which works well since they tend to be a bit less expensive.
